There has been a lot of talk on another post site that the Aggies haven't progressed since beating Ohio State in the NCAA.  I have been encouraged by our play in the WAC, a much better conference and we played in the championship the first 2 years.  But this year has me wondering if some of the fans are right.  This was obviously one of the worst WAC years for a long time.  Our conference RPI was horrible.  I think we all had high hopes going into this year, but have seen a similar result as former Aggie teams; win at home (or dominate at home) and struggle on the road.  Our post-season play has been pretty bad whether it's NCAA or NIT in the past 4 years.  So my questions are; 1) Is the program moving forward and 2) What are we lacking to build a mid-major that can compete with good teams on the road and on neutral courts?  I am not trying to be negative here, I'm a season ticket holder and will continue to be.  I love going to the games and love the team.  I know we have great regular season records, but it's the big games we seem to struggle with.

I think the USU  Aggies might be going down, but the WAC next year is going to be good. You got LA Tech with some young talent, Fresno is getting better, Thuggies got some good talent, and we all know that Nevada is going to be is powerhouse like usual Next year. The WAC will be top 12 RPI conference next year

Yeah - I expect the WAC to be much better, LA tech has some great talent coming on, Nevada was ranked in the top 25 for recruits this year and NMSU's prison work program seems to be working.  I also think USU will have a good team, my issue is with the road and post-season.  We need to start proving something if we want at large bids.

Prizon Work Program?  Thuggies ? Why so much hate for the Aggies? C'mon now, fess up. You know you'll be pulling for them in post-season (hopefully the NCAA). Good luck to the Utags and the Wolfpack.

I think that a big deal should be made about how poor a job the Wac Commisioner is doing.  The WAC had virtually no TV games this year and I think the lack of exposure really hurt all WAC teams in our Conference Rank as well as recruiting.  How many times did you see a West Coast Conference Game on TV and how many teams did they get in?  Why isn't the commisioner working on preseason matchup similar to the Big Ten vs. ACC Challenge with the WCC or MWC?  I think that these would be great games to watch and would help come selection sunday.

Excellent points.  I've been very disappointed in Benson.  I'm not sure if he's trying to use the WAC as a stepping stone or what, but he doesn't seem to have it's best interest at heart.  First of all he's in Denver which puts him near no team in the WAC.  The TV deal is horrible and he said last week that he is happy with it and won't look for any changes until next year (which will be for 2010 and beyond).  I really don't like the tourny situation not being neutral.  Even the moto, play up?  Sounds like we are admitting that we suck.  I could be wrong, if so will someone let me know what he is doing to promote the WAC and make it a better conference?  Oh - 1 last complaint, you can't communicate with the conference.  The site doesn't allow for a bullentin board or contact info, nothing.  Sounds like a great way to keep in touch of the league in Denver.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed the way the season went....too many winnable games weren't won on the road.  And tit seemed like there were very few games where the opponent was really put away.  Well we got the 23 wins at least, not that anyone really pays attention to that.  At least Larry Miller put a few games on KJZZ........LOL.

We need to recruit a couple of huge bruisers like the southern Aggies Passos.  We've always been a team of small white guys that can shoot the ball from outside.

I agree scorched - Nothing  against Wilkinson or Wesley, those guys are studs. But we usually seem to have smaller teams. Hopefully we can get a 6-11 or 7 footer to help contribute, eventually.
