BATON ROUGE, La (AP) -- An unnamed source within the LSU athletic department confirmed rampant rumors around the school that LSU has an agreement in principal with Dayton coach Brian Gregory to become it's new men's basketball coach. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but it is believed to be a five year contract worth an estimated $5.5 million.
A press conference has been announced at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 1st.
Gregory just completed his fifth season as the head coach at Dayton, where he lead the Flyers to the NIT quarterfinals as well as an NCAA Tourney berth in 2004. He replaces John Brady, who was fired on February 8th, less than two years removed from a Final Four appearance. Calls to both LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman and Brian Gregory have went unreturned.
