We all know the best way to get over a rough breakup is to talk crap about our harlot of an ex and start thinking about all the hot chicks we could now potentially get with. So, in that line of thinking, who could we possibly hire next as head coach?

Too bad Darrin Horn just signed on at South Carolina, he used to be an assistant here and put together a respectable team at Western Kentucky...

I don't want Bruce Weber, we already had an above average recruiter and below average in game coach and I'm really mad at him right now.

What we should do is schedule Indiana next year in non-conf, hire Bob Knight, and beat the crap out of them.

How about Rick Majerus ? He's a Milwaukee guy, wouldn't leave us unless for a health issue! Great coach! No? Maybe?

As much as I love Majerus, and I do, he's not the man for the job.  He's more of a rebuilding type of coach and works well with good-not-great players.  Marquette needs a younger more dynamic coach to try and replace the energy that Tom had. We were on our way to being a perennial power program and Majerus would be nothing but a last resort kind of hire.  we also have some good recruits lined up for the next few years and need someone who can salvage those ties so we don't slip back into obscurity for 10 years.

I know it's about impossible (he said he wouldn't leave for the UI job) but it would be cool to get Tony Bennet.  He's got ties to Wisconsin, playing at GB and his daddy was Dick, and it would be so cool to beat UW with a UW type guy.

I have to admit one of my first thoughts was Bob Knight, though that would be too good to be true. He hasn't been retired for long enough yet.

Another though was Mark Few from Gonzaga. He has rejected a number of good schools over the past few years, but does he really want to stay at Gonzaga forever?

I am also against the hiring of Majerus despite the fact that he is a great guy and an ex warrior. And I don't want Weber either for the same reason as mUeAgLe, I'm sick of a Crean's poor in game coaching / lack of adjustments / inability to set up a play with a few seconds left in the game.

I can't wait until the cbs and espn start naming possible coaches to fill the hole. This could actually be a step up for us if we hire the right guy.

I'm excited for the list to come out either.  Marquette has to be considered a good job right now, it's really on the upswing and there's got to be some good names out there that want to prove they can make it in an elite conference.

Not to start hating on a guy who rebuilt our program, but with the right hire now, maybe we can recruit a halfway decent big man (love you Ous, but I'm talking about a guy who actually has at least 1 post move) and maybe we can have a consistent offensive playset, things that tom had trouble with.  What I'll miss with Tom is the good recruiting, the pressure defense, and the energy on the bench, but maybe it can be made up for in other areas.

Doc Rivers! Hey i can dream right?

There are going to be rumors galore for this, can I cant wait to see who asks Bob Knight first if he's interested.

On a (somewhat) serious note, Scott Skiles is still out of work, isn't he? I peg him as a much better college coach than NBA

skiles would be a great college coach because he puts pressure on you to produce and is good at developing young players, he also is strict and could keep the team in check...i definitly wouldnt mind skiles as our next coach, but i want Bob Knight the most...highly unlikely...As already said Rick Majerus wouldnt be a bad coach as well...id be fine with Tony Bennett as well...We could also maybe go for some up and coming coaches like Purdue's coach or Scott Drew of Baylor

My first thought after I heard the news (well, second if you count "this is an April fools joke, right" was that Tony Bennett would be a great replacement.  For all that Crean did for Marquette's program, I think he's maybe an average x's and o's guy.  His talent lies in recruiting and finding hidden talent like Wade.  I think all his first round tourny losses are evidence that his coaching is only mediocre to good, at best.  That's why Bennett would be great, especially next year.  If everyone stays, which they should based on where I think they'd go if they entered the draft, a good coach could potentially have a stellar year next year.  Beyond that, we're still going to need a strong recruiter, but a great game coach would be nice for a change too.  Bennett had great results with limited talent.

The only problem is that he's already turned down IU.  Now, with everything going on at Indiana, Marquette's probably a better situation for the near future.  Also, Benn
