Most say he is the best PG in the nation.  Some say he will be a top 10 pick but most put him around 10-15.  Being an academic All-American, he seems to value his education more than some college players.  But I'm definitely not staying turning pro means he doesn't value it.  Durant was an easy call last year but DJ is not as easy a decision.  I'm on the fence with it myself.

So give me your honest (not hopeful) opinions.....does DJ go pro or does he stay??

Here are some questions that I ask myself to see if DJ would stay or go to the NBA next y ear.

Did DJ have an amazing year? Yes, 31-7 is a great record. Big 12 co-champs and NCAA round of 8. Last year, Texas got knocked out in the second round.

Is DJ the best point guard in the NCAA, this year? Yes, but not because of his scoring ability or his defense ability. Rather, his ability to think on the floor and disect an opponent's offense or defense. He is a great player, but DJ is a superb thinker on the basketball floor.

Can DJ improve his game with another year in college? Yes. DJ, and the Longhorns could not overcome the size and depth of Memphis this year. I think it would do DJ alot of good to stay in another year and work on strategies for shooting over big men. With experience comes consistency. Consistency is something that the young Texas team did not have in abundance.

Honestly, I think DJ could leave. I dont know if he will. But you are asking a lifelong Longhorn fan to say that yet again, another premiere player is leaving early. This is not an easy thing to swallow. Can you imagine if the likes of TJ Ford, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant, DJ Augustin and Damion James made one team? WOW!!

I hope he stays, I hope Damion James stays too. I am looking forward to M. Hill getting healthy and am also looking forward to seeing Balbay's skills. But that is next year.

Yes NJ, I def think you're correct in saying that DJ could improve his game by staying another year.  I couldn't have said that about Durant last year.  He was ready for tougher competition.

Interesting point by bringing up James leaving early too.  I wasn't really thinking about that but I think he has more potential in the NBA than DJ.  But he could for sure improve on his skills with one more year.

I'd love for both to stay and bring a NC in basketball.

In all honesty I think Augustin stays,, but only for one more season. I think another year under his belt and he'll be fully ready to join the L and I honestly fill like he wants to be completely ready before making that big jump. Next year IS the Texas Longhorns year. Returning all starters from an elite 8 team, another year of experience from one of the best back courts in the country and hopefully a more experienced bench to contribute during the course of the season. Next year looks bright!

From your mouth to God's ears! I hope you are right. With all the returning starters. A healed Matt Hill and Balbay coming in at guard position. (I hear is he is pretty good) Next year could truly be Texas' year.

I hear he has really good ball handling skills but we'll just have to wait and see.

I really don't think any one will leave early.  Why would they want to leave to go and play in the CBA or D league or overseas.  Texas has good college players they always do but they usually are very crappy in the "Leagues" (see Kevin Durrant and Vince Young, 2 busts that are really pro garbage)  I don't think that UT has any NBA tallent so if Rick Barnes can go and take some coaching classes this summer yall should have a pretty good team next year returning everyone.  Then DJ can enter the draft next year and be a second round pick b4 he goes to the CBA with Durrant.

mgice for a UNC fan you sure hate

Durrant a bust? i guess if you call 20 plus PPG in your Rookie season a bust...
Vince Young a bust? i guess if you call taking a horrible team to the playoff in your second year/ winning rookie of the year, What about Aldrige is he a bust too? What about Daniel Gibson?

Outside of Jordan and Worthy and the some decent players in Stackhouse and Sheed you have nothing but busts and Shammond Williams
Marvin Williams
Sean May
Rashad McCants
Pete Chilcutte
Raymond Felton (not a bust, but a disapointment)
Joe Forte (HAHAHA)
Brendan Hayword
George Lynch
Jeff McNiss
Ashim Bravado
Eric Montross
Makhtar Ndiaye
Derric Phelps
Clifford Rozier
Julius Peppers
JR Reid
Reyshawn Terry
