I think the NBA champion will come from the east because whoever wins the east will have the easiest path to the Finals, with all the sub-.500 teams in the East, it will be a cake walk, but for the teams in the West, they are gonna batter eachother to 7 game series, and the winner of the West will be worn down.

I say the Celtics over the Spurs, i would pick the Spurs but the fact is the talentless East will keep the Celtics fresh on there cake-walk to the title.

Haha a cakewalk in the east. Lakers fan here and i hope you don't watch the NBA and just look at the standings every day. Lebroom is going to be unstopable like always in the playoffs. I hope he kills the Celtics and says i am better than your 3.

Seems to me thats what i was hearing from a good amount of people last year.......that the west was gonna tire itself out , and then get beat down in the finals.........granted its tougher this year, but they're professional basketball players/teams , they know how to condition themselves to be ready for each round. They're not high school players or college players. Pretty sure if their trainers let them get tired , they would get fired.

Kobe doesn't get tired my friends. He won't get worn out. The West will win the championship. Either the Lakers or the Spurs.

The Spurs are likely going to win the west and likely none of the series will go to 7.  They are better than everyone in the west, the records dont matter.  They are the best defensive team in the West comfortably.  Parker, Ginobli and Duncan score effectively.

Nobody has yet proved to be better than the Celtics.  If the Celtics are healthy and full force, likely only the Spurs and maybe the Pistons can take them, i dont think any other teams have a good chance.  The Celtics are a fierce defensive team this year, it will take a similar defensive team to stop them.

If the Celtics play the Magic, Cavs, or Suns, Lakers in a series..they will score on them efficiently.  They should be able to take the Pistons and Spurs too.

I think, at the bare minimum you have to say that there are 4 good-great teams in the East. This means that no matter how you slice it, the winner of the East is either going to have to play the division and conference rounds against one of those teams or a team that beats them. I'm figuring as well that those games will be hard fought and the series will be longer than 4 or 5 games.

If it plays out according to seeding then you'll have the second round as

Cle vs. Bos
Orl vs. Det

both of those are probably going to go 6 or 7 games and then the final round in the east will also go 6 or 7.

So my point basically is that its no cakewalk, at all. The top four seeds most likely (i like upsets but i dont see it) have an easy time in the first round and then from there its going to be hard fought like the West. Personally I dont think having to play ONE OR TWO more games in the end of April is going to hurt the chances of the West Winner when it comes to June and the finals.

Don't sleep on the Toronto Raptors, they have been injured all season , if they get healthy and get Garbojosa back, and Calderon and Ford the best one - two punch playing at the top of there game, and get Bosh to step it up in the playoffs, you better watch it out, Can you say "Dark Horse"

Birds...I just wanted to thank you for your post about the "Dark Horse" Raptors.  It's really early in the morning, I'm drinking my coffee, and I really needed a good laugh!  You can't honestly believe that Calderon and Ford are the "Best One-Two Punch!"  That was great...again, thank you.

Birds, I love your positive attitude about the Raptors. I'm a Raptors fan. We all must face the reality that Toronto needs to make some changes before they can contend in the playoffs. It's obvious to me now that one of the two point guards has got to go so we can get some big man help or a talented 3. Toronto will most likely be ousted in the first round with relative ease(at most 6 games) because they are far too inconsistent to be a threat.

The first thing that I think the Raptors should do in the off-season is trade TJ Ford. I think Ford is a very whiny player when he doesn't get his own way and the only reason he has his starting job back is because Jose Calderon was man enough to relinquish it so that TJ would shut his giant baby mouth. Calderon is our man for the future, case closed.
