So what does everybody think about dropping the game with Texas for A&M? I am kind of disapointed on one hand, because I always enjoy that game, but on the other, I think it probably was better for us getting a 10 year deal with A&M. That will give us more time to develop into Petrino's system, and plus it gives us more credibility as a team if a BCS possibility happens to come our way.

Any thoughts?

I always love to play Texas and hate to lose them off the schedule, but... Something has to give for the 09 season. The 08 schedule is going to be tuff, but everybody seems to be giving us a bye. I still think we will win at least 7 in 08. Petrino will need to show some improvement in 09 or the naysayers will kill him. With Texas, A&M, Florida, and Georgia on schedule even  the best coaches that have been in place for several years would be scared of that... I know that I am.

I honestly don't know what to expect from this season. I am going to keep my expectations low, and hope for better. I feel like it will take us at least two years to start getting to where we need to be. I would be utterly amazed if we won 7 games this year. I don't see it happening. It would be nice though...

I have to agree with you.  I think it is better to have a long term contract with a school than just home and home agreement.  I am glad to see the hawgs put together a tougher non-conference schedule for a change.  This year should be a very interesting one.

I think a game against UT gives a little more legitimacy to out of conference play. I am not necessarily looking forward to driving around Austin with my Razorback magnet on my car, but I'll be damned if I take it off even if UT is going to squash the hogs. I am, however,  expecting less-than-polite fellow drivers.

On the other hand, the Aggie-Razorback rivalry is legendary. I was raised to dislike Aggies before I even knew what it meant. A lot of that was lost in the transition to the SEC. I think it's fun to revive that. I can meet my dad halfway and maybe see some games at A&M.

Well, Texas is certainly the bigger named team of the two, but it is hard to beat a 10 year deal. I think its great either way. We needed to shed at least one of the cupcake sunbelt teams. I wish we would get rid of Louisiana Monroe and work out a deal with aTroy. Troy is actually an up and coming team. Maybe not so much by SEC standards, but at least in those smaller conferences.
