He was definitely an underachiever that got way to much recognition for doing nothing really.  No rings, no hall, looks like the Ravens are going to be bottom feeding again in the AFC north, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason why your calling him over rated is because your still sour about him knocking you out of the playoffs Jan 11th, 2003! A year where he came in third in the votes for MVP, only behind Rich Gannon and Brett Farve. The year after he was named the Co- MVP, and you still call him over rated? All you Steeler fans need to get over yourselves. You still have the super bowl ring as your avater? That was Two years ago. GET OVER IT!

Over rated!  The guy came from D1 AA.  He was a very good NFL player former MVP and was 2 yards away from almost winning a Super Bowl.  You guys are nuts to say he was not good

Well actually I think it was 18 inches away from almost winning that Super Bowl.

He definitely was a great quarterback as he was for a few years on the same par as Payton Manning. Its just a shame that injuries started to plague him, otherwise he could have gotten another MVP award.  While he was healthy, the Titans were almost always one of the teams to beat.  I'm not sure he'll end up in the Hall of Fame, but he definitely does warrant consideration.

This year is feeling like the year that both Steve Young and Dan Marino hung up their shoes as two great quarterbacks in Favre and McNair won't be playing this season.

i cant believe some of the idiots posting this crap, Steve McNair is one of only 3 Quarterbacks to have 30,000 Passing Yards and 3,500 Rushing Yards in his Career, in his Co-MVP season there was a 4 to 5 week stretch when he didnt practice at all and yet still played on Sunday and produced that MVP season, He might not be the best quarterback of all time but in his prime there arent many who could do it better than Air McNair.

18 inches away from winning a super bowl....who cares, they lost it might as well been 25 yards.Since when does 174 carrer TD passes warrent  Hall of Fame consideration? In two years Matt Hasselbeck will have better numbers than McNair do you think he is a Hall of Fame QB? McNair was the product of media hype and a stellar defence. The guy only threw more than 20 TDs three times in his carrer.Decent player not even close to Hall of Fame.

I completely agree. He was a decent quarterback with a couple of good years. Far from being great.
