I would agree with most of that Neil. Maybe Ford wanted the LSU job, but they had already hired someone by the time he knew for sure that Gillispie was staying put. That would have left him for one more potential upgrade in OSU or staying at UMASS.

I have a feeling that Ford is going to turn himself into a big name coach.  I think it is a good hire for OSU.  Ford's style of play is great for fans and is hard to prepare for.  Time will tell.

As an Oklahoma State fan, I am very pleased with this hire. Dont get me wrong here. I think that Sean was shafted and treated slightly unfairly, but now I dont have to worry about if my coach is drunk or if he is gonna over heat on the bench. But seriously I am pleased. I tlike that Ford is from the Petino tree.

I think that he will get things going in the right direction. I was kinda hoping for Anthony Grant from VCU myself. I think he would of been a good fit. But like i said, i am happy with this hire.

The simple fact is, Ford will be a big name coach. You gotta realize what kind of messes he has turned around. OK state didn't really deserve to have ford IMO.  The simple fact is that he will be at least 10 times the coach that sean sutton was and Ford will be one of the future big name coaches, mark my words.

P.S. I never seen a big deal about Anthony Grant. If he was hired to a Power conference school, he would be like anderson at missouri, stuck in the mud.

I like OSU and hope that Ford works out.  I just don't see any "40 minutes of hell" or press defense working against the athletes KU and Texas has every year.  Could he consistently finish in the Top 6 in the Big 12?  Sure but I don't see him competing for titles unless he changes his philosophy.

I think Ford's about to be a big name as well.  Excellent hire, IMO.  Another Pitino disciple, where Grant is 2nd generation, having served under Donovan.  I'm a big Grant fan too, and was hoping Arkansas would get either him, Ford, or Pelphrey last year.  All similar styles, very Pitino like for sure.  I think OSU fans are in for a much better brand of roundball to watch.  To get a preview, just watch what Pelprhey does at Arkansas this year.  It will only be his 2nd year, but almost all of Heath's guys just grad'd, plus 2 just transferred, so he's finally getting some players he needs to run his game.  Ford's already got some talent at OSU, won't have to wait too long to see improvement over Sutton I'd bet.  GL

THis shows how arrogant the A.D. HOlder and the money tycoon Boone Pickens are. THey assumed that they could lure Bill SElf away from one of the top 5 basketball programs in the country to come back to his home and work for them and they fire someone who wins 39 games in two years and beats Bill SElf and the national champs this year. Bill SElf is one of the classiest people you will ever meet and he told them no way that he is leaving Kansas for OSU. HOlder and Pickens threw all of their "rotten"eggs in to a basket and got nothing. THey panicked once they figured out that every big time coach that they contacted had no interest in working for these two morons and they got a coach who has won nothing in his career. I'm not bashing Ford, but geez how can you fire Sutton to bring in this guy.

Hey KU fans, Congrats on the N.C. Now please shut the hell up.

How can you fire Sutton to bring in this guy?  Hmmmmm, maybe they want to put more buts in the seats. Maybe 17-16 w/ 2 AA's that cowpoke keeps talkin about.

" I just don't see 40 mins of hell or pressure D working against the athletes KU or UT bring in every year" How many N'tl titles all those athletes win in the 90's? Cuz the pressure D and 40 mins brought in 4, w/ 2 runner ups. 6 outta 10 not too shabby huh.

Plain and Simple. Pitino's a winner!!! Followed up by his protege's are winners!!!!!!!!

Oklahoma State is a basketball school, has better facilities, and a better basketball fan base. And did I mention a bigger bank account?

I smell the next coming of Billy Donovan. Something tells me that you don't want to try to "get well" in Stillwater. It's been tough in the past. It will be impossible now.
