Yeah i believe, it`s because he does`nt have the toughness Lucic has and he does`nt want to get his shirt dirty in the corners!!! It take toughness and the willingness to go after the puck in the corners, and not be afraid to get hit!!! He is young and has not shown either!!!

Remember, they sent him down to the P Bruins at the trade deadline. The reason was to make him available for the AHL playoffs.I guess he has more value to them in the post season then he does for Boston. If he is out again on Tuesday you can expect him to show up in the AHL playoffs.

Yeah, he gets bumped off the puck to easy, (same reason I wanted to trade him). Julien wanted sobotka in there for faceoffs and grit.

Because he sucks and he's overatted. I hope he gets traded during the offseason. We don't need him.

Ya, Claude Julien wanted more grit in the corners and stuff. And let's face it, Phil Kessel is a pansy.
I love the guy and I hope they keep him, but he's still a pansy.

Phil Kessel needs to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle this off season. He'll be fine. You don't get rid of a player with his skills. He'll be 21 this year. Give him some time.

Kessel is benched because they want him to play for the P-Bruins. They have a better shot to win that championship there then were it really matters. At least the front office thinks so.
Kessel may not be the grittest player, but the kid is fast. He was the reason they scored the 1st goal in the playoffs. But i do admit he needs to show more grit. Kessel is not going to get traded though. Your crazy if you think that. Who are they going to trade him for? Not a draft pick because we had enough of them in the past. The only really good picks this year are the top 2 and those teams arent trading that pick way.
Kessel is very young and needs to add more weight in the offseason. Give him time and he'll be fine. I think however, he needs to also work on his shot. Hes good in the shoot out but he needs a harder shot.

Haven't you people watched the games this year? Have you seen Kessel's play?
Yes, he shows glimpses of what he's capable of but the mental mistakes he makes far outway those. After a few seasons you'd think he'd be playing smarter hockey.
And it doesn't matter how big you are if your a wuss. Just look at Joe Thornton. He's huge but still plays like a girl most of the time. I see plenty of small guys pounding people. You need the heart not the size. Kessel doesn't have it. Milan Lucic does.

The more I think about it, I don't like the fact that Phil Kessel will be brought down to the P Bruins. They've done great without him (117 points in the regular season) and my concern will be that he messes up the chemistry.
If they take the Calder Cup, he shouldn't get any of the glory when he wasn't in the trenches to begin with.

Let's all calm down. Has everyone forgotten how Joe Thorton took time to develop? Kessel was a year older when he went to the NHL...Kessel is in his second year, and I have no doubt he will get better. Will he reach the potential and statistics many thought possible when he led Team USA in the World Junior Championships? Not sure if he will...but give the kid a little bit of time. Maybe this whole benching is a wake-up call.

Yeah hes a good player with not much size and not much heart exactly good point. I am much more pissed off about the absence of Chuck Kobasew and of course Patrice. I dont want to sound like oh wait till next year but ithink this team will be really good if it is able to resign its players and possibly get some good young skill. Go Bruins tonight, Id like to see Chara and wideman start being more physical in the middle of our defensive zone, to many Canadians are screening Tim Thomas and easily sitting there. And if any of you are going to the game can u please yell louder its a disgrace to get cheered out by the away team.

Well I guess we were all proved wrong for one game at least. Last night Kessel played the type of game the B's needed. He was as physical as he can be and played like Julien lit a fire under his A$$. If he can countinue to play that way they might have a shot this weekend to pull off the imposible!

Thank you DMac. Everyone said that Kessel isnt good, that hes should be traded. But he was the reason they scored their first goal. Kessel isnt a bad player. He however is young. He needs time to develop and improve. Give the kid some time. I see him as the another Maxim Afanaganov(Not sure about the name), hes fast and can see the game well. However he needs other players to help him out. I think he a good player and that we should give him more then 2 years to determine whether or not we should trade him.
We dont want to trade another Brad Boyes. A player that has 47 goals and is a 1st line starting player.

Do you know wish you didnt create this thread?
Phil Kessel in the past 2 games has been the best player in the ENTIRE PLAYOFFS. Thanks to him the Bruins have life and a STRONG chance to win game 7 in Montreal.
If the B's score first, and can stop the Habs in the the 2nd peroid. The Bruins will win game 7 and face the Pens in round 2. That will be fun to watch. And who knows maybe they'll be underdogs then too.
