the more i think about it the more i really do see how Weber has let this program collapse right in front of him.. Were always a DECENT team,  with a respectable record in the B10. and now the futre of our program is in the hands of some high school sophomores and juniors...

I used to be pretty high on Weber.. but now am seeing the light that he has let this program collapse.

This will be funny seeing people like you get back on Weber's bandwagon after they start playing better, whether it be next year or in 2009.

I for one can't wait. Giving up on a coach after 1 bad year is about as lame as it gets as far as I'm concerned. Go find another team to root for.

And you were probably the same guy saying Zook should be fired because he hadn't done anything with the Illini up to this past season. Trust me, I know you were kcillini.

I think we also forget we had Webster recruiting and now Howard. True, Weber should have had a better up front recruiter, but Howard is quickly repairing some problems and making new friends in high places. Look at what he has done in his short tenure. Nice job Coach Howard and keep up the nice work.

With that said, Coach Weber did make some mistakes, but hopefully he will continue to grow and rebuild the Illini team.

I could not see Pruit screening at the 3 pt line, but I can see Tisdale screening at the 3 to pull the opposing center out, clearing out the paint and allowing penetration by others. Afterall, Mike is a 3 point threat and the opposing center must respect that. On the down side, Mike may not be down low for rebounding. That is where Keller may come in handy, but it would be nice to have Mike low for offensive rebounding, should one jack up a 3.

i actually have never once critizcized zook..because think about where we were in football.. i mean anything better than 2 wins is an improvement from 2 seasons ago.

I just fault weber from taking a consistantly upper tier B10 team to one of the bottem couple teams in the big 10.....

and if we do start playing better then great! i would willingly admit i was wrong. I may have for the time being jumped of the weber bandwagon.. but never off the illinois basketball bandwagon... but you have to remember these recruits are still 2 and 3 years away.. a lot can change.

The good recruits started in 2007, sorry but it looks to me like McCamey, Tis and Davis have some talent. More are coming in 2008. The 2007 kids will have a year under their belt and get back a guy who is essentially a senior.

Some guys who shouldn't have had to play prominent roles on the team did this season and are better for it.

So you have to remember with guys like Legion coming in we don't have to wait 2 years.

I would hope it would take more than one year for a true fan to jump off anyone's bandwagon.

I'll repeat it again...ONE FREAKIN' SEASON. OK, so we may not be guaranteed to challenge for a title next season, but we're not guaranteed to suck like we did last season either. One year is a hiccup (and it has happened before and we turned it around the next season), 2 or 3 is a trend.

Calm down folks, the demise of Illinois hoops is being GREATLY exaggerated by some.

kcillini-

A true Illini fan doesn't critique the coach for having 1 bad year, considering of those 19 losses, at least 11 of them came by 6 pts. or less. They weren't horrendous like Northwestern, they just couldn't play a full 40 minutes. It was a bad makeup as far as the team went. Weber could've stuck a shotgun in these guys' foreheads and they still would've lost 19 times.

ill55ini-

look  bro- im not doubting anything you are saying.. i am just saying since we were in the final four we have been on a steady decline..its just frusterating to see us finnally hit rock bottem.. but you guys are all right it does appear that were on the way back up.... maybe i jumped the gun a little bit.. its just a little hard not seeing the illini being apart of march maddness...but i promise you i have never once in my life rooted for collegiate team other than illinois.. the years our football teams were awful i still go to any games i can and watch every single one that i get here in KC. and i can assure you i watched every illini game covered here in KC and on the b10 network.. i would like to think i am a true illini fan.
