So Aaron Rodgers is your guy, eh?
If so, no team in NFL history has ever put as much emphasis on 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks as the Packers just did this weekend.
Says new Minnesota Vikings all-pro defensive end Jared Allen:
"The only problem we're going to have is to see who hits the quarterback first."

Allen won't have to worry about that not after the way Clifton handled him last time...

Then Allen will be mighty upset when Kevin Williams gets all the sacks...

You think Clifton can shut down Jared Allen one on one every play for an entire game?
If so, you're completely out of your mind.

I didn't say that he would. I said that Tauscher is capable of shutting him down for lots of the game. He did it against Kerney and Kerney is about the same skill level and type of End allen is. I expect for Allen to get some pressures. but College will be able to come help out which leaves Wells and Spitz/Colston one on one with Williams and Williams which i don't mind as much.

Well, according to TT he is. I see no problem getting more competition in case things don't pan out the way you expect. I guess TT didn't want to make the same mistake the Vikings made with Jackson.

"You think Clifton can shut down Jared Allen one on one every play for an entire game?"
I really doubt any good tackle can shut down any good DE on every single play and I really doubt anyone is saying that. However, you're saying that the Packers should somehow be scared because the Vikings have Allen.
From NFL.com's week 9 assessment vs. the Chiefs.
"Key stat
The Packers, led by left tackle Chad Clifton, did a good job of keeping Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen in check, limiting the NFL's sack leader to just half a sack and two tackles. Allen had six sacks in his previous two games."
As I have been saying, it's seriously not that much of a concern for the Packers as it is for other teams, lol.

Chad Clifton may struggle at times when run blocking, zbs isn't his thing, but when healthy he might be the best pass blocking OT in the game, Allen isnt the only DE Clifton shut down. He also shut Umenyora down dwice last year. Oh and Kevin Williams didn't do **** on passing plays last year and Jason Spitz has turned into one of the best pass blocking guards in football. He'll handle Kevin Williams all game long by himself, neither Williams nor Allen will manage a single sack I guarantee it.
There shall be a moaning and nashing of teeth in viking land when Clif-tron squats on Jared Allen

The Packers offensive line isn't going to be able to "shut down" this defensive line of the Vikings. Kevin Williams, like most defensive lineman, is limited from a pass rushing standpoint when double teamed. Hell, not even the great John Randle was all that effective when doubled; and he could be a Hall of Famer one day.
But with single coverage, Kevin Williams would be a beast. Same thing with Allen. Mixing and matching coverage will only be effective for a specific number of plays. And you'd better hope that Rodgers (or Brohm) is decisive in playmaking because they are not going to have a lot of time back there.

Dude Chad Clifton was one on one against against Jared Allen all game long when the Packers played KC, Allen wasn't much of a factor. The only reason he got that half sack was because of the inside pressure Alfonso Boone was able to get off of backup LG Darryn Colledge, there was no pocket to step up in to. Mark my words, whether its Clifton or Taush facing Allen both went up against the premier pass rushers of the league last year and shut them down.
BTW Jason Spitz has been pretty successful handling bull pass rushers all on his own. If they have to double team him oh well, Allen will be handled with single coverage,

Yeah, Jared Allen is going to dominate us, just like you guys dominant defensive tackles dominated Ryan Grant.. oops. I almost forgot he ran for 125 yards and a TD against you guys... i'm not real concerned about jared allen.. he didn't make too much of an impact against the pack last year when he had a very good end in Tamba Hali on the other side applying pressure who do you guys have on the other side? Erasmus James? i actually think he is hurt and i don't know who you're other ends are but im not very afraid of them... Now on the flip side i think jared allen is and will be a great addition for you guys and a much needed aquisition as well... Thank god Aaron Rodgers is running on very young mobile legs so he can go to the opposite side of allen and have about 10 seconds to throw to the several very talented receivers we have matched against your mediocre DB core (although sharper is a beast)

No, Sharper was a beast, when he played for the Packers and his first two years at Minny, no longer, thats why they drafted that little school kid to replace him.

And also, don't give the Minnesota Vikings any credit by saying "their mediocre DBs"! PLEASE, they were dead last in the NFL. Thats 32nd out of 32 teams. They does not qualify as mediocre. The Bears DBs are mediocre, but not the Vikings!

Last year's games will have no impact on this season. The Packers simply will not be as good as they were last year. Period. They had one of the top five quaterbacks of all-time, now he's gone. There will be a hell of a void at that position.
