Albert Branden OG
Jammal Charles RB
DaJuan Morgan SS
That's correct. They are the Chief's 1st and two 3rd round draft picks this year. I think we all know why this is relevant.
Even as a Packers fan I can realize the impact of Jared Allen on your team. But, did you pay too much? I'll be honest, I don't follow college ball much except the big ten. I have no idea if these were good picks or not. But it's going to be fun following everyone's career for the next 8-10 years.
I just noticed no one else has brought this up and thought it would make an interesting discussion.

I get your point... we did give up a alot... but think about this and consider if Jared Allen cost to much. The Jaguars gave up their first round pick, two thirds, and a FOURTH to move from 28th (I think... I am not sure) to move up to the Ravens spot at 8...
so MajorPackerFan... answer me this honestly
would you rather give up the 17th and two 3rds plus swapping 6th round picks for Jared Allen... or would you rather give up the 28th, two 3rds, and a 4th for Derrick Harvey?

If you think about it as in having those players on the Vikings instead of Jared Allen, than no, we did not give up too much. Albert will probably be a pretty good guy, but our gaurd positions are pretty set as is. Jammal Charles really would not get any time in our backfield because we already have Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor. As for the safety, I think we are pretty good there, and with the addition of Tyrrel Johnson, he definitely would not see much playing time. The Chiefs got some quality guy, but who is to say that we could have gotten players of equal value but instead what were our needs. It would not have happened in the first especially since the Jaguars moved up so much in order to get Harvey. I say we got a he// of a deal, besides the chances we get to see how good those guys end up first hand are pretty small considering how often we will be playing them.

Well, if it's just A or B. I'll take Jared Allen without any debate. But if "none of the above" was an option, my mind would tell me to take that.
The Patriots traded a 4th round pick to acquire Randy Moss. Now, which of the three trades mentioned would you take?
My point is, there are good trades and there are bad trades. But both sides of the trade think they are winning or the trade would never go down.
Randy Moss came with a lot of baggage, yet NE won that trade.
Jared Allen is coming with a lot of baggage. Could the Vikings win big on this trade? Possibly. Will they? Way too soon to tell. But there are a ton of opinions out there, and I'd like to hear them.

Coronaguy, obviously the Vikings would never draft the players the Chiefs drafted. The whole idea is how these three guys will fare in KC compared to how Allen will perform in MN.

The major reason that Randy Moss was traded for a 4th rounder was because a lot of people that he was done for due to lack of production while with the Raiders. He did have baggage issues, but that rarely scares off teams like the Patriots, it was mostly because the coaches of the Raiders as well as a lot of sports analysts considered Moss to be on the tail end of his career, guess they were wrong huh.

It is all speculation, that would be like saying; if a plant was blue do you think it would still be able to produce photosynthesis. I know you were just saying that the guys they got might be good for them and you were asking if the guys we could have drafted there may have been better than Jared Allen. That is why I said something along those lines in my post, saying that based upon how the draft went down, the only player that would have been worth taking at 17 for our number one need was Derrick Harvey and he was gone well before then. I believe the guys that the Chiefs got with the picks we gave them will turn out to be good but there is no way to know how the guys we would have drafted at those spots would have turned out because after Harvey was gone nobody knows where the Vikings would have gone in the first let alone the two thirds.
