The Nationals are taking a one run lead into the 9th.  I love the chance of staring the season at 3-0, with wins against the Phillies and the Braves!  Compare this to last years start (over which just about anything is an improvement).  Everything I've seen says the Braves, Phillies and Mets will fight for positions 1,2 and 3 in the division.  Does anyone really think the Nationals can compete for the top of the division?  I actually do, with my biggest question being how the starting pitching is going to do (I fully realize that is a HUGE question).  While I'll be happy with a competitive season, and a great new stadium, but I would love for the Nationals to hang around the top of the division this year.

3 and 0 baby!!!! I hope we can keep it up.  The Caps and Nationals are keeping me from being too upset about the last couple Wizard games.

GO Nationals

GO Caps

GO Wiz

I sure hope they could keep it up this year. One of their biggest concerns, their starting pitching, has looked strong so far with good outings by Odalis Perez and Matt Chico. Tim Redding was great tonight, shutting down the best offense in the NL.

Ryan Zimmerman is clearly stepping up as the team leader and if there is going to be a captain on the Nats, Zimm would be a great representative.

3-0 baby, only 159 more wins to go.

Ever since Manny Acta arrived here in Washington this has been a one day at a time team. Washington needs to keep that attitude the entire year.

As for us fans this is great to start 3-0. 4-0 is better. 7-2 is better. 10-4 is better. 20-11....see where i am going with this.

Right now The "face" is obviously doing his job. Check out the glove tonight. I never would have thought I'd say this but a profession athelete appears to be under paid.

Johnson has proven me wrong through three games. Keep up the good work. another great glove.

Guzman/Milledge hiting the ball well.

The starters, gotta keep it up. Prove the entire baseball world wrong.

What we really need to see in the coming ten days is for Lannen to win his first game. Hill to pitch 6 innings then come back in five days and pitch again. Hanrahan to have two or three scoreless outings. Rauch to keep it up. And Ayala to push for the closers job.

Another great game from our team. Maybe soon the entire metro area will begin to take notice and become baseball fans like us.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!!!

as a met fan i obviously dont want the nats to do good, but i wont deny they are a good young team. i think they could be a spoiler for philly and my Mets by keeping up with this pace. they might just be having a hot start, or this could be a breakout year for them. either way i hope they at least come in 3rd ahead of the Braves...might be fun to have another good team in an already strong division

I am really happy to see us start off like this. I still think the division will be battled between NY and Philly, but you never know. I started the season saying that I would like to see us finish above .500 and in 3rd place (its heading the right direction), but I've always said that we could end up surprising everyone and competing for 1st (they did say we were going to be the worst team last year).

Honestly I just want us to play competitive in each game and to beat up on division opponents. With Pedro Martinez "popping" his hammy, this division could become really interesting. I hate to see teams lose players, but we've had our share of injuries.

Hopefully Dukes can get well soon and provide some more power in the offense.

And one last thing.... doesn't it feel like we finally have a baseball team? I mean, RFK just made it feel like we were kind of a sideshow... now we actually have a beautiful home field and I can't wait to go to some playoff games there.

GO NATS!!

Nats are up 5-1 right now on the Phil's and hopefully will get there first sweep of the season.  How long can they keep this up?  They clearly have a high level of talent.  Can the talent be sustainable  throughout the long season.  I guess we will have to see.  What a hot start though.

I guess the 0-5 run we are on kind of answers the question this thread started with.  The Nats are making way to many errors.  Even some of their wins, they had fairly major screw ups (passed balls, wild pitches etc).  I really hope they can get back on track soon!
