come on now. you cant control the things your kids do. hes a hell of a coach and probably a hell of a dad. early 20's are kids prime years. they have there own choices... parents dont make em for them.
Really, that is the route you are taking? This guy would not have a job if he didn't spend the time to be a coach. And his kid is 25 at some point you have to chalk it up to the kid. There are a lot of good kids that have bad situations and while I do not know for sure I can't imagine that Andy Ried's house could have been that bad of a situation.
I am sure ol' Bill Self spends too much time away from his kids as well. I would venture to say all college and professional coaches are not amazing fathers because of the stress and time constraints they are put under
The problem is that people keep referring to them as "kids". THEY'RE NOT KIDS. They are adults. Andy can't be around to hold their hands forever. I'm 28 and would totally expect to be held responsible if I made the choices that these "men" made. After you turn 20 or so, you tend to be completely on your own and make good or bad choices. These spoiled rich kids made bad ones. That was THEIR choice.
Founk, you have no freaking CLUE about what you're talking about here. I was a counselor and some teens (and these are adults, noit teens) in for serious drug problems came from the very best of families and situations, doting parents. Drug addicts become drug addicts regardless of their parents.
i was brought up one of 7 kids. every kid so far went to college. throughout high school we all got straight A's but once we all got around the age of 21 we started making are own decisions. we dont call mom and dad before before we light up a blunt and ask them if its ok. lets get real here. andy ried could do nothing about this. he doesnt have kids anymore.. they are adults and make their own choices. so dont go hating on mr ried. im sure when his kids were little he played some ball with them and maybe went fishing with them haa.
This whole situation makes me sick. I feel really bad for Andy Reid, this HAS to be a hard time for his family, and now the media turns this into theif next soap opera. This shouldn't be in the news at all. At all.....
Seriously, to say he is a failure as a parent is about as ignorant as it comes. They don't live in a suburb of Kansas City like Shawnee. They live in Villanova, a suburb of Philadelphia. Drug use is much higher in Philly than in KC. You have no idea how he is as a dad. As many others noted, these are adults we are talking about. These are not kids who he can control everything that they do and don't do. Do you go blaming your parents for every stupid decision you make? Every time you mess up should someone look at your parents and say they are a failure because of your mistakes. When you are an adult, you have to take responsiblity for you own actions. Not blame them on your parents. Andy Reid is not responsible for this mess they got themselves in. They are the ones who are responsible for the mess that they got themselves in.
Talk about being a failure in being able to see the whole story of things. First off, it's not his only children and I hear his others are upstanding citizens. Secondly, these "boys" are men and even in the best of situations, men (and women) will make their own choices. You can sometimes, *SOMETIMES* chalk it up to the parents, but knowing Reid and how he provides for his family, I'm sure it was never his fault. Those men made their own wrong choices going against what their family brought them up to be. That's all on them, if you can't see that, tomorrow morning when you wake up....put duct tape over eyes and leave it there, save others the time of realizing that you're completely blind to everything when you're talking.
I will agree with the argument about him being a failure as a parent, none of us were ever in that house when they were growing up so we have no way to judge that. As far as Philly having a worse drug problem than KC? 15mins across the state line into Missouri is Independence, also known as one of the biggest meth cities in the nation. It's everywhere, it doesn't matter where you live. But these men need to stand up and act like men!
How can you argue that he is not a failure as a parent with how his sons have turned out? They are in their twenties now so they are making their own decisions, but it is the job of a parent to prepare their children for adulthood so that they can make good decisions when the time comes.
Andy Reid and his wife have done a poor job with these two young men.
I'm just wondering how you got to know Andy Reid so well living in Kansas, because you realy speak as though you know him. You can't pull out accusations about a person "being a failure as a parent" from bad decisions that their 23 and 25 year olds have made. The truth in the matter is that someone with this much wealth and attention, would be very quick to turn to drugs, but you're making it out to seem that Andy Reid didn't want the best for his kids...and what you're saying is wrong. You, are an idiot.
Its funny that you Philly fanboys say that you can't call someone a failure as a parent for decisions that their adult children make, because you really need to see how their children function as adults to be able to judge someone's skill as a parent.
And how dare I insult your precious football coach. I'm sure that he is perfect in every way, with the exception of parenting of course.
Founck, I'm not a Philly fan but even I can see just how obviously wrong you are and you're just letting your biased homerism blind you from the truth in all this. Did you Andy Reid has more then just those 2 sons? Did you know those children are upstanding citizens? I bet you didn't. I'm not a fan, but I sure did. Why? Because I like to research things before I open my mouth and say something stupid, something you've done repeatedly on this thread now.
