Thing is, all JACK stations are independently programmed by the people in that particular market so the JACK FM in San Diego is totally different than the one in Pacoima, Washington. They all have different writers and schedules. The one I work for here in LA has done pretty well. Somewhere between #1 and #3 in the ratings but we've tried to keep it simple. No DJ's at any time and much larger playlist than most of our JACK contemporaries go with.
My job has nothing to do with the music end of the station. I write the stupid one liners and a bunch of the online content.
Oldies and classic rock is a dying format across the board. They just cant keep up and with the way radio is hemorraghing cash due to the internet, ipods, and satellite radio, parent company's just wont stick with something unless its making dough.

CinBenFan - Like the post, but no way tickets, hot dog, beer, parking & gas costs $150 in Cincinnati. Okay, maybe with the rising gas prices.

Guys - "He's a 5 tool player - he will be our centerfielder for years to come!"
Girls - "He is so hot. I saw him at FlatTop Grill last night and I wanted to say hi, but I was so scared. Did Sammy hit a homerun last night?"

Corey Patterson has 1 tool...and that's speed. He can't make contact, can't throw, and can't hit for power. Get him in the cage with Brook Jacoby (although I doubt he'd be able to help anybody, let alone C-Patt) and get his swing fixed. People have said it already but I'll say it again, he doesn't swing at pitches, he waves at them. If I was Bob Castellini I'd be embarrassed I'm paying him over $3 million big ones.

This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill. Corey Patterson is hitting 3rd in tonights lineup!!!! I was hoping the rain stopped so the game could get under way, but now I hope the rain keeps coming, I can't bear to see Patterson in the lineup AT ALL let alone in such an important spot like 3rd. WTF DUSTY!?!?

Yeah, rain on you crazy diamond. 3rd? Like for real? What is Dusty trying to get himself fired before the All-Star Break? This makes no sense. Who is sitting if Patterson is playing? Freel and his .300 average? Hairston and his .330 pace? I mean really. This is getting past stupid and into utter down syndrome territory.
