Just to let you know Chicago, McClinton's not a PG hes a SG. Trust me I have season tickets to UM basketball. Im not sure hes one of the top SGs though, or PG for that matter.

Who replaces him on your list pitty?I don't know, but when C and PF combined, John Brockman doesn't stand out as top 5.

As most people have already pointed out, Thabeet really should be on this list. A team has to change their entire gameplan just to deal with him. His numbers may not be the greatest, but he causes so much havoc inside. If any player in the Big East can shut down Harangody, last year's BE MVP, its gotta be Thabeet.
I also think that Robbie Hummel will be the best player in the Big Ten this year. Purdon't surprised a lot of people last year, and with a season under his belt, Hummel should carry them again. The only thing that could stop him from being on this list is the fact that PU should be a lot like this year's Xavier, with lots of players getting in on the action. While that should limit his stats, I still think Hummel deserves to be on this team

I always find it good for people to bring their opinions to threads like this. It's always a good thing. But I will say instead of just questioning a few players, or requesting a couple be put on, show what your list would be. It's easy to comment on someone's list, but to do so and not "show your hand" is so easy to do. So I am asking for people to back up their opinions by actually putting down their Top 5 in each category. And remember, as I said in the beginning, I didn't sit down and study each roster. I just went over names in my head in about 5 minutes and typed it up. So you can't use the excuse "I didn't have time to do the research". I didn't either.

PG
Darren Collison, UCLA
Ty Lawson, UNC
Jeremy Pargo, Gonzaga
Johnny Flynn, Syracuse
Levance Fields, Pitt
Honorable Mention: Jerel McNeal, Marquette; AJ Price, UConn; Nick Calathes, Florida; Kalin Lucas, Michigan State
SG
Wayne Ellington, UNC
Stephen Curry, Davidson
James Harden, Arizona State
Tyrese Rice, Boston College
Scottie Reynolds, Villanova* (I realize he's more of a PG, but, like Pargo, he's a combo guard that I believe is a more natural 2)
SF
DaJuan Summers, Georgetown
Gerald Henderson, Duke
Jeff Adrien, UConn
Sam Young, Pitt
Paul Harris, Syracuse
PF
Sam Young, Pitt
Joe Alexander, WVU
Patrick Patterson, Kentucky
Blake Griffin, Oklahoma
Ryan Anderson, Cal
Honorable Mention: Richard Hendrix, Alabama
PF/C
Hasheem Thabeet, UConn
Tyler Hansbrough, UNC
Luke Harangody, ND
DaJuan Blair, Pitt
Jon Brockman, Washington
Honorable Mention: AJ Olgilvy, Vanderbilt
Okay, there's my list (which I openly admit is based on watching a whole lot more Big East basketball than any other conference).

That's a good list Howlong. Although there are about 6 players on your list that are still in the draft, and I didn't want to include those players. But I do appreciate someone else throwing down theirs as well. I always appreciate what you have to say on this board.
Question for you. It looks like G'Town will have a rotation of 9 players next year, with 4 of them being Freshmen. Do you think they could surprise people, or do you feel they are 1 year away? How does the starting 5 look?? Will it be Rivers, Sapp, Freeman, Summers, and Monroe?

Although there are about 6 players on your list that are still in the draft, and I didn't want to include those players.Yeah, I did that intentionally. I don't believe any of the players I included (or Donte Greene, or a handful of others) will actually sign an agent. But we'll see.

How does the starting 5 look?? Will it be Rivers, Sapp, Freeman, Summers, and Monroe?JTIII doesn't have anything against playing freshmen. That said, it takes a while for high school players to learn the modified Princeton system that we run... it's a particularly tough transition on big men, who often aren't used to so much passing from the top of the key. He expects his forwards and centers to be as agile with their hands as his guards, so a stud like Monroe will likely make less of an impact on our squad than he would were he starting for a team like Memphis.
The Macklin transfer leaves us extremely thin in the post (an abnormality for Georgetown), and I really think that it'll take Monroe some time to develop into the Beast he's being touted as. I honestly think we'll take a page out of Jay Wright's notebook and go with a guard-heavy lineup. If I had to guess, I'd say:
G - Chris Wright
G - Jessie Sapp
G - Austin Freeman
F - DaJuan Summers
F/C - Greg Monroe
6th man - Jeremiah Rivers
Chris Wright is the best pure guard we've had since Iverson---look for him to immediately challenge Jerel McNeal, Scottie Reynolds, AJ Price, and Johnny Flynn as one of the top guards in the league. He missed much of last season with an injury, but he's lightning quick and he added a huge boost in the Big East/NCAA portion of the year. Sapp's tough as nails and can come through in the clutch, but he's a bit of a headcase too. Along with Summers, he'll be the only upperclassman on a very young team, so he needs to polish his leadership skills if the Hoyas are to stay calm in tight situations. Freeman is a bit of an anomaly for our system---not quite guard, not quite forward. When he's hitting his shots, he's a hell of a matchup. Too big and strong for most college guards, and able to bump bodies with the forwards, who have difficulty following him out to the 3-point line.
Summers will be our top scorer, and he could end up as an All-American when all's said and done. Some of our fans think he occasionally auditions for the NBA rather than plays our system, but he is the best pure shooter we've got, and he's another matchup nightmare. A 6'8 guy who can stroke the 3, he's naturally a "3" position, but I think he'll be forced to play the "4" because of our shallow bench.
Rivers is a clamp down defender, and I think that he'll still see 25 minutes or so per game off the bench. He'll rotate in for the various guards... it'd just help us a lot if he could develop a more consistent mid-range jumper. As of now, he's almost useless offensively, and there are stretches in games when our scorers have been in foul trouble, and he's been unable to contribute many points.
Bottom line: We're still a very good team--an NCAA team, in my mind. I see us fighting hard every game, and I think we'll end up somewhere between 4th and 7th in the Big East, getting an NCAA bid, then losing at the Round of 32. That's my take.
