Listening to the Ref Network and Bob Stoops spoke with Roy Williams he stated "Roy Williams is a player, plain and simple, the guy can play. I don't like how the media is protraying him and how they are ripping his game, you can say what you want, but this is a team game, not 1 man can make or break a team, championship teams don't operate like that"

The interesting point of the interview was when Stoops said, "I've given Roy some advice going into the offseason, and I spoke to him yesterday. Roy is not playing for the money but for his passion for the game, and I'm under the impression he would make some monetary sacrifices to play in Dallas or elsewhere, just my impression, one thing is for sure, Roy needs a fresh start"

Sounds like Roy would be willing to re-do his contract to make him easier to trade...very interesting nugget.

THe monetary sacrifices sounds to me like he would be willing to redo his contract to lower his numbers or something.

no not just yet. Lets see how his play is with the new revamped secondary and with Campo back as coach. He has stated that he is uncomfortable in wades 3-4. Sometimes a player takes longer to adjust. I see this defense greatly improved after a year of working at it. Give him one more year.

I think that with Campo coming back he will find his place in the 3-4 defense.  He will come back this season and play like the Roy Williams of old.  He is still a good player he just hit a slump and needs to get over it.

i think we should keep Williams i believe the problem was or secondary not him.  things just got so bad that when ever something went wrong back there people just automaticly blamed Williams when some times Newman was getting beat and Reeves was a complete liability for us whenever he touched the field.  even McNabb pointed it out one time when he was playing us saying the weakest part of our secondary was Reeves.

Look, I like Roy Williams as a person and all, but seriously this guy is becoming a liability in more ways than one.  Not just with his weak coverage skills, but with him not wrapping up when tackling.  Not to mention the guy is probably one "horse collar tackle" away from a multiple game suspension.  And now, he is isolating himself from the team and complaining about the defensive scheme and how he isnt comfortable in a 3-4.  Cry me a river Roy, you are a professional...deal with it or restructure and be shipped.

Lets the media be the media. You're right the media did dog pile on Roy. But, he does't help himself out by not  playing fundamental football. He hasn't been form tackling for some time now. He was posterized by Boss for the Giants. And he just bounced off the TE from the Bills in that game. His coverage skills are lacking. Reeves and Jones were liablities in the secondary and if Roy is using them as an excuse, well we've upgraded. He has only himself to look at this year. I truely hope that he returns to form, but if he still performs as a former shell of himself; Jerry will need to do what is best for the team and either bench him or trade him.

I could care less if Roy Williams couldn't cover. I just him to do what he does--Not what hes force to do.

Roy is a FOOTBALL PLAYER....Perhaps he is out of position in the NFL and would make a better linebacker....He has been exposed in coverage, but he has been tremendous in other areas. Time will tell if the secondary will help him out or if he needs to move to another position....

I was watching America's game on tv over the weekend - and it was the 78 Steelers and the year of thr mel blount rule - that you could only jam within 5 yards of the line.  Blount was interviewed and said that if a rule gets named after you, then thats because you were too good at your job and they had to find a way to make it easier for everyone else.  I was thinking - that doesnt quite fit with the Roy Williams rule though does it?

My god I hope we get the old Roy back - but with his public admission that he doesnt fit in Wade's defence, i dont think that will happen at the boys.  If he doesnt play well this year I suspect he's history in silver and blue

Sport_24-7 when was Terence Newman ever getting cause I don't recall that.  But I can recall Chris Cooley beating Roy Williams; Jeremy Shockey beating Roy Williams; and a rookie in the playoffs name Kevin Boss catching big passes against Roy but I could be wrong.
