Wow, I forgot to mention Brandon Jones in my last post. Heres the way I see it based on last years performance:
#1-Justin Gage: though not really a #1 receiver on any other team, he was the leading receiver last year and has built some good chemistry with VY
#2-Roydell Williams: shown some improvement and made good plays last year. Got hurt at the end of the year, but warrants a solid 2nd option for Vince
#3-Justin McCairens: Pretty sure thats where he played in the slot last go around behind Mason and Bennett. He did rather well and I don't see why he wouldn't play here. Although possible he and Roydell could be interchangable as 2 and 3.
#4-Mike Williams: Really, I'm just rooting for the guy. I tend to push for the underdog and thats what it seems he is now after being a top 10 pick. We all know hes not a burner, but supposedly he has hands of glue, which you know we all need.
#5-Lavelle Hawkins: I like the picks the Titans made, but when was the last time the Titans utilized a rookie wide receiver? Tyrone Calico comes to mind but that was minimal at best. I see Hawk moving his way up the depth chart, but not this year.
#6-Biren Eily: Haven't seen much of him from watching games, but lots of people like him.
I think B-Jones gets cut. He has had his chance and has underachieved a bit. I'm sure the Titans don't keep more than 6 WR on the active roster. More depth in OL, DL, and the secondary is needed for injuries and such. Plus, with the use of double tight sets and such, it'll probably be rare for the Titans to go 5-wide.
After that list, is it possible we would have the worst receiving corp in the league? Maybe the 49ers will give us a run for that title. Who else has a pretty thin receiving corp??
