Granted Thome is starting out horrible, no doubt about it. But where are the anti-swisher comments? I see everybody saying how bad Thome is and its because hes old. Thomes stats are slightly better than Swishers and Swishers strikeout totals are almost as high. His defense is a liability also. Except for Juan Pierre and Jerry Owens he has the worst arm in center I have seen. I just dont see why everybody is getting on Thome horribly yet not saying anything about Swisher. If Konerko and Thome deserved to be ripped apart then why not Swisher? Most people were on here (not me) saying he was going to hit 40+ HRs and hit over .280 so if he isnt reaching the expectations everyone had for him why not more questions reguarding his performance? I just dont understand it.

The media made such a big deal about his arrival to the South Side because he was such a clubhouse guy that would fit right in with the team. Hawk Harrelson is one of many in the media who won't say a bad thing about him because of his attitude. Well, right now he sucks and it needs to be said by fans and media alike. He's barely batting .200 and his range and throwing arm only reaffirm my original beliefs that he was only ever really a first basemen. Of course I hope he breaks out of it, as most are certain that he will, but until then he cannot get a free pass any longer.

Swisher wasn't being markerted by Oakland when Kenny Williams called about him.  But, Oakland didn't hesitate  to trade him.   Those are the trades that you sometimes have to be worried about .

The difference between Swisher and Thome is, ( hopefully ) that Swishers young and his better years are ahead of him, we all realize that Thome's better years are behind him.  Thats a big difference we need to keep in mind everytime Swisher  or Thome leaves men on base.

For Blang84 .... Hawk Harrelson is a   " Company Man " whether he is critical or not has no bearing of the White Sox failure's or success.  If they fired him today, that would not make the White Sox better.  Turn off your TV if you don't like what he says.

Because Swisher is a piece of crap player who no one who ever watched him before would have high expectations about, Thome used to be good and people hoped he had a littlle left.

DJ, calm down.  All that was said was Hawk speaks TOO highly of Swisher.  You dont see Farmer or Stone forming erections every time Swisher comes up to bat.  Hawk on the other hand gives too much credit to Swisher, Uribe, Cabrerra, etc.

At this point, Swisher should be considered a reserve OF/1b. Anderson should be playing CF. We know that Anderson can at least bat .200 (past stats, but I think he will do better now) and he is much better at fielding.

To djwsoxfan, I'm not saying that Hawk's comments have any bearing on what happens on the field, and I have no idea why you thought that. He is just one of many media members who aren't being honest about Swisher's on field performance. Again look at the numbers. And I'm not going to turn my TV off because I am a diehard White Sox fan who doesn't miss a game, but many times I do hit the mute button.

Hawk gives every Sox player a pass, it's just what he does.

Swisher is a suitable CF for the Cell, but in bigger parks he needs to be playing strictly LF/1B and Brian Anderson needs to be in.

Swisher has been an .OBP whore throughout his career, and he's got a lot of power, he just hasn't gotten his stroke going yet.

I fully expect him to finish with a .260-25-80 line with a .360-.380 OBP.

The true dogs of this team are Mark Buehrle and Orlando Cabrera. Cabrera has been terrible in the field, can't get runners over, can't get big hits and I just seen his career numbers with the bases loaded....212? come on I could go out there and hit 200 with the bases loaded.

and buehrle has been the worst pitcher on this team so far. I didn't want to sign him when his deal was coming up last year. His velocity was dropping since 2006. Good thing Barry Zito is so terrible or else it would be Buehrle's contract getting laughed at by the baseball world. both of these two bums wouldn't be here if we would have just kept Garland.

What the hell is AJ doing in the top of the 9th representing the tying run? He goes to the plate and takes all 3 strikes right down the middle? TERRIBLE. Why bring a bat? My goodness i haven't seen anything like this since I gave one of the little leaguers I coached the take sign on the 3-2 because i knew the only chance we had was if he walked. (at least that kid walked and we went on to win the game). 3 right down the middle and he doesn't swing. horrible. hang your head AJ. at least go down swinging for goodness sake.

Cabrera has been a better fielder at SS than Uribe ever was, plus it was Uribe's D that pretty much ruined the Sox tonight, it's hard to pitch when you have a bloated retard at 2nd base that can only hit for half a month in a season.

Right before Uribe couldn't complete a double play cabrera got eaten up by a slow grounder, so don't blame all of the defensive woe's yesterday on Uribe. Plus he got a couple hits and knocked in a couple runs while cabrera still hasn't done anything with the bat this year besides get 4 hits sunday. In 42 less at bats uribe has knocked in more runs, hit more home runs, has only 4 less total bases, 4 less walks and 2 more doubles. The difference in their batting average and on base percentage is not much. And i would rather have Uribe up in a clutch situation.

Oh yea, Garland or Bueherle, who should I choose between....give me a break.  Mark was fine last season and his only down year was '06.  Mark is the only consistent career pitcher on this staff.  You laugh at them resigning him?  I laugh at any ounce of interest you see in a fat, not even hitting .200, doesnt know how to run the bases 2nd baseman.

12-13, 10-9, 1-5 the last three years.Garland was 18-7, 10-13, 4-3. 32-23 for garland 23-27 for buehrle since the world series. I'd take Garland any day. He throws high 80s low 90s, buehrle throws low-mid 80s. Garland gets double plays in all crucial situations, buehrle couldn't pitch his way out of a big situation the last 3 years. Quentin Uribe and dye are the only players hitting the ball recently if you haven't noticed. Personally I hope they sign him and let him play shortstop over that over rated, over paid, no hitting piece of garbage that they traded Garland for. Maybe they should have kept Garland and traded Buehrle. then it would have been crap for crap.

Kenwo, you're a retard, wins and losses are the most misguiding stat for pitchers, and your major boner for Uribe has got to end, the guy is a waste of a bat, and the dude's only defensive asset is his arm.

Buehrle has a much lower career ERA, has a lower career WHIP, and averages more IP per year than Garland.

Sea Fan is right.  Mark has a career ERA of 3.86 and a career WHIP of 1.27 while Garland has 4.46 and 1.37 in those respected categories.  Wins / losses are probably the most misleading stats when looking at a pitcher.

And in regards to Uribe, enjoy his recent "hot streak" while you can because it will be gone by the end of the week, just as it has every season he has played for us.
