Not quite yet.  Derrick made his first appearance for AAA Nashville last night and picked up right where he left off for the Sounds.

.1 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 2 ER.  Ouch!  That's good enough for an ERA of 54.00.

I'm starting to seriously doubt he will ever be back to all-star form.  Mabye he was just lucky for that half of a season.  Remember when he could throw that wicked sinker pitch at about 88-90 right down the pipe.   Those days are over..

The guy was the ultimate flash in the pan.  His undoing was that damn bobble head night vs the Mets almost 2yrs ago.   I remember I was there.  He was never dominant after that.  Although most Brewer fans would take last years version of bipolar Turnbow, but  I think that is even to much to ask.  I think we will soon be hearing Derrick Turnbow with the likes of Steve Blass, Mark Wohlers, and Rick Ankiel (the pitcher)  Stick a fork in him, he's done.

I really do hope he can regain that form, he would be a great addition to the pen as the dominant Turnbow.  Like the rest, I think he is just too mentally fragile and is washed up.   Thanks for the memories.

I'm starting to seriously doubt he will ever be back to all-star form.All-star form?  I'm questioning whether he will ever be able to pitch at the major league level ever again.

I said that wrong.  He will probably never pitch for the Brewers ever again.  I think he will get a shot somewhere.  You wonder if he was on the HGH juice when he was an all-star closer.

I'm just pissed the Brewers don't have a single guy in the pen with wicked un-hittable pitches.  We had Turnbow for a while...then Cordero....now we don't even have a true closer.

That certainly is true.  And with nobody shining at AAA, the Brewers are going to have to turn to free agency/trades to fulfill not only the closer but also the starting rotation either before this year's trade deadline or in the offseason.

I don't think so, he's still got the same velocity he always had, and he still has the 88-90 mph sinker.

His fast ball this year did not top 94.  He was throwing a striaght as a arrow 90-92 in pretty much every game he appeared in this year.

I gotta agree.  He is not even close to throwing as hard as he used to.  I'm not sure he ever threw  sinker, but he throws almost all changeups now with the occasional fast ball.  Last night was good to see him throw almost all fastballs and that one pitch that looked like a slider.  Maybe he needs one more pitch nowadays.  Who knows but I hope he gets it back because this closer by committee thing will not last.

If I remember correctly Turnbow had a problem with the use of Steroids early in his career, I believe it was when he was in Texas. This is just what I remember hearing and part of his bad rap when he was released prior to coming to the Brewers.  This leads me to believe he probably did continue to use a performance enhancer before baseball began the crackdown.  It would coincide with the timing of his downfall.
