Never had a primanti's but i did see it on one of the travel channel's shows...think it was the 10 biggest meals or something like that.  I just remember the thing looked huge, and i don't think i could take down the whole thing.

I saw something like that on the Travel or Food Network as well. I thought it was top 10 best sandwich joints. Maybe it was big meals. Either way, I do remember seeing it on TV as well.

Primanti Bros alone is just about worth the trip cross state.

I was just wondering if Philly had any good beers that I could try?

Personally one of my favorite beers is Dock Street Pilsner which is brewed out of Philly.

http://www.dockstreetbeer.com/pilsner.htm

Also try the Victory beers: the "Prima Pils" and "Golden Monkey" are awesome.

Beware of the Golden Monkey!!!  It's tough to get the monkey off of your back and even harder to get the hangover out of your body!  This is dangerous stuff!

I like Jim's myself.  Pat's & Geno's are too greasy.  If anyone is down in the Wilmington area, there's a shop in Claymont (just outside of Wilminton on Rte 13) called Claymont Steak Shop.  Awesome cheesesteaks, but my favorite is their buffalo chicked cheesesteak with shrooms & american cheese.  What makes it great is that they put everything on the grill including the blue cheese.

Now I need to go out and get one for lunch.  Just wish that I could wash it down with an ice cold DS Pilsner.

GO Flyers!!!

I don't like Geno's or Pat's...Jim's is by far the best.

Yes. Beware the Golden Monkey. It bites. I've seen a lot of people down it like regular beer only to pay the price later. I personally have no problem tasting the alcohol in it, but some don't seem to notice and before you know it - whamo. You're stewed.

I have to chime in on this one.  It is really tough, since I spend so much time between places.

It is all in how you get it.  Both are very deserving, but if you get the Pittsburgher Cheesesteak at Primanti's, you have to get the egg on it.   On the other hand, not all Primanti's sandwiches are created equal.  Some sandwiches are better served based on the time of the day and the amount you have drank!!!

Now, I hate to say it, but I'm not terribly fond of the traditional Philly Cheesesteak, but if you find a place that adds some chopped pepperoni to it and you have yourself some heart clogging heaven.

Both have their time and place, and own city to serve them in.  Good choices either way.
