Vargas who will pitch Weds and Tatis are called up from minors.

Wise was activated.

Sosa and Figgy are dfa'd and Pagan is on the 15 day DL.

So no Castillo on the DL

thank god we won't have to see Sosa anymore in the majors. He was a total disgrace. I can't believe that willie would continually stick him in situations where teh team was down by a run or two and the next thing you knew it was lights out for the Metropolitans.

I'm glad Joe Smith is not going down then. This is a good thing. With wise back, feliciano, smith, schowenweiss, wagner, heilman and sanchez, the Mets bullpen is much better off.

Does this mean that Heilman is the long man now? Who else out of these guys can go 3+ innings if needed.

I guess it would have to be Heilman EMTB

Its good to see Showenweiss doing a little better and going in for more than an inning. I see Wise and Smith going 2 if needed. It comes down to the starters though I mean they need to go further into games.

That comes down to Willie. I know some of them have had pitch counts a little too high too early in the games, but if the Mets are up by 3 runs and it is the 7th inning and the pitcher hasn't given up anything all game and he gives up  back 2 back singles to stat the 7th inning, there is no need to take him out just y et.

That's willie's problem. let them stay in the game and finish when you are up 2-3 runs.

Thank god Sosa was dropped down, I don't know about you guys but for some reason  Sosa thought his slider was Turk Wendell esc. he would  throw the dam thing 4 pitches in a row at a whopping 83 mph. up in the strike zone

Any thoughts on Vargas?

He might end up being the 5 guy if he pitches well.

It's about time the Mets let go of Sosa, the man is atrocious. Just in case the Mets want to use him in the minors, they have a good chance that he'll go unclaimed with his mega high ERA (7+ I think). Smart move by the Mets to start weeding out the slackers.

I have know problem with Vargas, will he be the answer I doubt it but hopefully Pedro can come back and be semi-effective if not hes better than Brian Lawrence or Dave Williams from last year.

Jorge Sosa is just another example of whats wrong with our staff. he was over and misused. the guy was on pace to appear in like 100 games due to Willie's misuse of the bullpen and our starters inability to get to the 7th inning. Dont get me wrong, Im no cheerleader for Jorge Sosa but the guy was alot more effective when he wasnt be used in this manner.

All we need Vargas to do is hold down the fort until Pedro can get healthy (IF he ever gets healthy). If he falters, dont be suprised if we see Tony Armas next. Until either pedro or El Duque get their butts back on the mound or we make a deal for a bonafide starter (unlikely), we are stuck with this revolving door of guys that really shouldnt be on our roster.
