"wait until you come to our arena", hmm, just like the Ranger fans did . . .
Great point GPF. Then again, there's only so many things you can hang your hat on when you're down two games to none in a best of seven series.

Man am I excited,2 hours to puck drop in game 3! Penguins Vs Flyers!!! All I can say about tonight is the first goal may win this game, if the Penguins come out fast, or even just survive the first 10 mins and can net the first one...that will shut up a noisy crowd...on the other hand if the Flyers score...it could be lights out! Cant wait to see Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin show Philly fans what they can do!!! GO PENGUINS GO!!!

I agree PFIC - the first goal is key. Go Pens - shower Biron with pucks! With the Pens Defense and the Flyers shorthanded defense, if they can just get a lead into the third - then it is over!

It's 2-1 with 15 min left in the 2nd and I'm impressed with how well Hossa and Crosby are skating. Crosby is handling the puck so well right now and Hossa is just flat out making plays.
I'm surprised how the refs cracked down on hooking in the 1st period on both teams. All those calls (on the Pens and Flyers) were pretty ticky-tac. I'm just glad they have kept things even, as they have this entire series.

I hope that this series dispels the notion that the Penguins are an offensive team only. The Flyers only had 8 EIGHT shots on goal through two periods while losing more faceoffs. That means that the Pens were getting control of the puck early after the faceoff and maintaining good puck possession. Sidney Crosby and Marian Hossa were the most visibly dominant forwards tonight, but Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy did their fair share of forechecking and controlling the puck. Hal Gill has been an absolute beast on defense. He's slow, but he is positionally sound and had a tremendous reach better strength. Marc-Andre Fleury had a quiet night tonight. He only faces 16 or 17 shots. Great overall performance on the road in Philly. The second sweep of the playoffs is coming our way Thursday night.

The Pens defensive play is just too much for the Flyers. They can't handle it. The only way the Flyers score is when they crash the net, and for the most part the Pens haven't been letting them do that. Marian Hossa played another great game on both sides of the ice. Fleury didn't have much action, but was good when needed. Crosby played another great game tonight. Malkin didn't dominate today's game like he dominated game 1, but he was great defensively again. I can't say enough about the defense they played great the entire game. Nice way to shut up the Philly crowd. The Pens' gotta to finish off the Flyers for the sweep on Thursday. I'm getting my broom ready. Go Pens!

Tray, I completely agree (as I have written in earlier posts): despite all the talk of the Pans' High caliber offense and MAF, it is the unsung defense that has really controlled this and the Rangers series. You can just see the frustration of the other team at their inability to generate scoring chances - I mean, 17 shots in a game they HAD to win! This is astounding, and as someone wrote earlier, Pittsburgh has long been synonymous with defense - but rarely before in Ice Hockey. In a way, this team is reminiscent of the glorious Steelers teams of the 70s - a well balanced attack coupled with smothering defense. I like our chances to go all the way.
Oh yes, and aren't we all glad that Whitney is still on the team???
Go Pens

One observation I had from last night was the Pens attitude a the end of the game. VS showed a few seconds of them around the net congratulating each other and I just noticed how unexcited they were...it was just like another day at the office.
I personally love that, it's like they're just so focused on playing they're game and they know they still have a long way to go.

Personal opinion, last night may have been the perfect road game. The Penguins did simplify there game, and plaine and simple out worked the Flyers. Overall I thought it was a great game, I was a little nervous the first 10 minutes or so due to the questionable calls, although I was happy to see them go both ways as I dont want to give the Flyers faithful an opportunity to blame the loss of this series on the Refs!
Sidney Crosby and Marian Hossa both played amazing, Evgeni Malkin wasnt his normal dominent self but still played well. Those guy's we expect if not demand great play from, it was the 3rd and forth liners that really are making this a complete t | |
