Number one, it someone makes a post directly to me, I'm going to respond. No one else needs to respond if they feel its not worth it.
Both shakerz and udub are idiots. They have both proven that over and over. They have a five game lead with a quarter of the season gone and now feel comfortable gloating about it. I said my piece on the Cub board before the season. Its a long year and I dont feel the need to go over on that board and gloat about anything until the season is over. If I was wrong, I'll be the first one to go over and congratulate them. Its just that simple. If the Crew isnt good enough, they arent good enough.
My problem is that somehow stupid, arrogant Cub fans (not all, I certainly have a lot of respect for cubsbadgers and couple of others) think this franchise is above so many others. The point is that the gaol is to win the World Series, not accumulate playoff appearances. Are you really going to tell me that Cubs fans will be happy with "just making the playoffs" again. I doubt it, any Cub fan worth his salt will tell you anything but the Series would be a disappointment this year. I can rattle off dozens of teams that have won the World Series in the last 100 years, the Cubs would not be among them. That would make them a second tier team just like the Brewers and any other long suffering team. Seriously, if a Yankee fan were part of this discussion do you really think he would not laugh at both teams? Why the moniker lovable losers? Why the laundry list of "curses"? That is just a feeble attempt to explain why a franchise with all the resources of a top three market has failed to win a Series in 100 years.
Those who said this arguement is stupid are 100% correct. I had to respond in my mind so I did. The Brewers have nothing to gloat about, the Cubs have nothing to Gloat about. Failing to make the playoffs for 25 years is disgusting and I am ver sick of it. I for one see the light at the end of the tunnel. It may not happen this year, but this team is very well positioned to make a serious run for several years and I am happy about that. On the same side of the coin, the Cubs have resources well beyond anything the Brewers could dream of and have had talent that put the Brewers to shame in years past. Given the opportunity the Cubs have had year after year, I dont think not winning the Series in 100 years is anything to be proud of either.
