Which of the youngsters should we trade to get a big bat in the lineup if Manny leave this year?  I simply do not see him staying after the 10 year threat of the trade.  He is going to get huge money somewhere, even though he is 36.  I would hate to lose him, but I think he will get paid more than he is worth.

I would probably trade Brandon Moss. He is on the DL right now, but has some potential. He could bring in a fairly good player for us. I'm sure a few teams would love to add him to their roster.

Brendon Moss is good, but I have to go with Sean Casey, he is a good Red Sox player, especially in certain situations, and should be thought of, but yes, im afraid manny will leave

But really as long as we don't get rid of Ellsbury ill be fine, maybe we can get rid of Crisp, he doens't play as much as he used to due to Ellsbury.

lets get this right... the Sox have the option on him for next year right?

That being said if you want a big bat to back up Papi for the future you have to deal a couple of  the young guys.  What about packaging lowrie moss and Masterson for an elite player.  The question is where would you get one... your infield is set cause you cant get someone to take lugo for all that $and 2 years.  Then look at the outfield it is the same thing with Drew. How many years does he have left, 2 or 3 at 15 million. This looks like the team at least for 1 more year.

So now you can look at the pitching.  They will need another starther when Wakefield retires in the next few years.  what do you think of getting one of the Giants young guns.  They need new talent so maybe you could get a Linscum or Cain with a package of young players.  Maybe lowrie and Masterson.  I would love to see them get another young front of the rotation guy.

Its important to note that it is a TEAM OPTION for the next two years. Manny can't go anywhere if the Red Sox decide to pick up his option, and at $20 million per year its not an outrageous amount of money for them to spend on him. I expect Manny will be back next year, and very likely the following year as well.
