Wow the Tigers just got swept by the Royals... AGAIN! What is up with this? You can't just falt the pitching, which has been terrible. But the hitting and not coming up with timely hits. Sure, the Tigers have hit plenty of homers this year. But it seems like every one is a solo shot. All 3 of Joyce's this year are. And there aren't any of those clutch two out two RBI doubles that we have seen in the past. It kills you so much to leave guys on base like that so often. This is one of the main reasons that the Tigers have been losing so much.

This team reninds me of when we had Tony Philips cecil feader etc We would score 15 one game on 11 home runs and then lose 2-0 the next game.

Sick situation, indeed.  The Tigers can't even hit MEDIOCRE pitching right now.  That kid Hochevar had some good stuff on Wednesday, but Gil Meche is baffling no one right now -- except the Tigers.  He's 2-0 with a 4.15 ERA against Detroit; 1-5 with a 6.58 ERA vs. all his other opponents this season.

It is getting difficult to watch.

A season worst 9 games under .500.  0-6 vs the Royals.  Been shutout 6 times already.  Haven't won a game when the Tigers have scored 4 or less runs.

To make matters worse the Indians look to be getting getting their act together.  If the Tigers can't find that "switch to flip" soon, the only light at the end of the tunnel is the offseason.  It is looking awfully bleak...

The Tigers are on a cold streak right now.  Coming off the sweep against the Yankees in New York they were rolling and then everything turned bad with the trip to Minnesota and hasnt gotten right since.  Jim Leyland said the problem with the Tigers is that they cant manufacture runs when the big bats are not hitting.  They cant put a runner on first base and move him around to score by playing small ball.  Its right, its either 10 runs on the board for the Tigers or nothing and with the starting pitching the Tigers have they are always coming from behind in their wins. They arent as bad as they have shown in this losing streak, they will win games but it will be either big innings and lots of offense or nothing.

dacey. - you are right , but with the hole they have dug & are still digging, can they win enough games (atleast 86-90 to have a chance) to make the playoffs.  Again it is not looking good.

To win 86 games, the Tigers would have to plat .600 ball the rest of the way. Tall order. Look at how many teams are playing .600 ball right now.

No, they're not as bad as they look right now.  They have a bunch of good players playing poorly, and a few others who are what we see.

The Royals are solid this year.
The
royals pitching has been surprisingly good this year, however, their batting is right on par with Detroit. It seems like the only pitchers they can  hit are Tigers pitchers. To give justice where justice is due, Verlander didn't pitch that bad. Normally holding a team to 2 runs is enough for this high powered offense. It's just that the high powered offense has disappeared and it doesn't look good for  a return soon. Their percentage with runners in scoring position has to be about the lowest in baseball. When you consistently leave runners at 2nd and 3rd with less than 2 outs your not going to win ball games. A lot of people are blaming the pitching, a lot are blaming the hitting, and a lot are blaming Leyland. I don't think it is any one factor. It seems to me we have a team full of all stars and potential superstars, but we don't have a "team". Until these guys begin to gel and work together, we are going to see them continue to struggle. And you're going to continue to here me cry. The Tigers have been and will continue to be my team no matter how bad it hurts. I'm just beginning to wonder how much pain us fans can endure.
