I think it will be an open competition of coarse as to who is the return man between Branch and Higgins, possibly another candidate as well.  If Higgins can learn to hold on to the ball a little better I like his chances of taking the job.  His speed can be a great asset.

i really think DMC will get a serious look as a kick returner. of course so will Tyvon Branch. i hope DeAngelo Hall is our punt returner.

How do you leave McFad off the list.  This is the guy you say is gonna save the Raiders.

DMAC returned in college...took several to the house. So he could be used here. The Vikings let Peterson do it....as did the Patriots with Maroney.

Both will line up on kickoffs. Higgins will do punts unless he keeps fumbling it then Branch. Branch could win the job in preseason.

I think it will be between Hall, Higgins and Branch. Mcfadden will probably do it every so often but not that much.

IN order to SUCK at punt returning one must butcher the ball once he tries to catch it which is what Higgins excels at. Case closed.

Im voting for JLH. I think he'll pull his head out and be somebody this season.

DMC is an option as well.

why not try schweigert ???     , since he sucks @ coverage, & open field tackling.  why not   put his "speed"  to use, &  have him justify a roster spot on perfomance, rather than hype !!..  think about it

I voted for Branch. He can't be any worse than Higgins. Granted I didn't see every game on TV last year, but the ones I did see, Higgins was either fumbling or running backwards.

Honestly, it's way to soon to tell. Higgins could very well do a 180 and become a force, but he could also be an NFL bust. Branch looked good in college doing it, but so did Higgins. I honestly don't think Al Davis wants to put his 2 "multi-million dollar men" ( Hall and McFadden) at risk for injury returning punts, considering the collisions could be way harder returning punts and kicks, but it also would make sense to make them earn their money in more ways than one.

Johnnie Lee Higgins will definitely get a shot at it. Yes he did not hold to the ball in his chances at being a return man but in college he showed that he had the mechanics to do it. I think if they work on it with him then he should be able to give it a shot. One of the problems last year was that we were still acting as if Chris Carr should be and stay our return man. Getting him only prompts me to believe that they will give higgins a second look. Branch will definitely be utilized on special teams but I do not think as a returner.

We have two good returners. I think it's a tough decision but we should rotate them. They're both young and they both have a lot of talent. Look for the Raider's to try both of them in the preseason.

If Branch can actually catch the punt he'll start over Higg.
