Let me tell you...it has a bunch of different rules in this league.  First off, the baserunner has no right to run in the base path, I guess.  This was demonstrated when I was sliding into second and the opposing teams short stop stepped on second and jumped right on top of me.  I was called out, and yelled at by the ump that I couldn't be in the basepath if the other team was in it.  I caught a knee to the chest in that situation and this guy was around 250 lbs.  I'm so freakin' sore this morning, it isn't even funny and I'm still slightly bleeding out of the elbow...it's been kind of getting ripped open all night when I was sleeping and rolling around trying to get comfortable.

Secondly, since you can't touch the other team when they are in the basepath, you can't make contact with the catcher.  So he can block home plate, and you have to go all the way around.

There are a few more rules that aren't as important during the game, but just weird.

You should have ran toward center field and made his fat a*% chase you since they can block the baseline.

I'm not 100% sure.  It's just a city/bar league in a town down the road.

I play in the flag football league here, it's fun sh*t.  Last year I caught a pass and head butted a dude when he was going for my flag. He went down and I proceeded to take the ball in for a TD.

Either you're embellishing the facts or you got an umpire who doesn't know squat. I'm betting on the latter. I've coached and played on adult softball teams for over 10 years now, and have seen more than my fair share of umpires who don't know the rules any better than they know what a woman's special place looks like.

I'm a little late into the thread but I can't imagine any league (even if it is not sanctioned by USSSA, ASA, or NSA) having a rule that states a runner can't be in the basepath if a fielder is. That boggles the mind. If you had not slid into 2nd and ran into the guy, at that point you would deserve to get yelled at. However, if you slid you were just trying to get to the base and/or break up a double play and/or protect yourself. I'm going to assume this was a double play situation since you said the guy jumped into you after the slide. If it wasn't, their would be no point for him to be jumping, he could
