We all know by now that Maclaren doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground so which ex-mariner would be the best manager??

if baseball has taught us anything it is that of all those players Edgar would make the worst coach seeing as how all the best players make lousy coaches..you have to be a solid/average to sub standard ball player to make it as a coach for some reason in the game

Conventional wisdom is that former catchers make the best managers.  I love the idea of Dan Wilson becoming a manager, maybe not the M's yet, but he could always call a good game.  I have to say that it would be amazing to see Jay Buhner calling out an umpire for his f-ed up strike zone.  John Olerud could have that quiet, intelligent cool to make him a great manager too.  Anyone but McLaren at this point.  Everyone who played in the AL West today lost, so much the better for our Mariners who have won 3 out of our last 4 games.  We won 4 out of our last 7, which sounds better considering we lost that 25 run debacle in extra innings to Texas, just a tough game to lose.  Go Mariners.  Go Jeremy Reed!

I'd pair Olerud's wisdom with either Buhner or Wilson in a dream team managerial partnership!

I will agree with others that ex-catchers tend to make the best managers. as for the list to vote from, I voted Dan Wilson. A player like Dan who accomplished what he did without all the physical tools is what you want in a manager. He definitely would know how to handle a pitching staff.

Now if the Mets get rid of Willie Randolph, though he is not an ex-mariner, he would be my choice.

I would love to bring in Dan Wilson as manager and Edgar Martinez as the hitting coach. both guys really know the game and how it should be played.
