I'm not talking about spygate...  I'm talking about the reality that 2010 will be a year without a salary cap and it is likely that the years after will be the same.

No longer will "any" team have a chance to win the Super Bowl, now it will be reduced to a couple of New York Yankee like teams that will simply BUY their championships.

I'm starting to think Roger Goodell is doing a poor job of running the league.   They are also thinking about adding a 17th regular season game which will probably be played overseas.  I think this is stupid for several reason but especially because it means virtually all season records will be broken right away...  Their will be a 2000 yard rusher ever year if they add another game.

Actually chances are there will be an agreement before the uncapped year arrives, and if it does it should only be for one year.  The NFL owners are way to intelligent and powerful to allow themselves to be run over by the players.  The fact of the matter is that the NFL is going to be on top in the US for a very long time to come because of the betting.

Everybody bets on the game in some way, from fantasy football to your local polls even my mother and sister get involved in a wager every week.  That is what attracts the masses, the interactivity that is provided through football wagering.  As long as that stays true the NFL will continue to grow.

You are right about the 17th game though, it would simply be a money grab by the owners and would do alot of harm to the integrity of the games records

I'm starting to think Roger Goodell is doing a poor job of running the league. If you review when this CBA was signed I think you will find that Paul Tagliabue was the commissioner and not Roger Goodell.

They're not getting rid of the salary cap, which was clear from the article. What happens is that in order to facilitate a new CBA, huge disincentiives are put in for the owners and players. Players, its the FA thing, which will kill a large number of guys. For owners, its the no salary cap. There will be another salary cap come 2012, probably set at a solid 60%, is my guess.
