Come on - you have one of the top defensive players in football - the silent treatment is a bit much.

Look at Micheal S - last year was unsure about retirement and missed all offseason workouts. Came back and had a great year. His team won the Super Bowl.

These guys are good - they are not going to suffer from missing a few practices. Look at the guys who cant do anything in the offseason because of injury - they dont suffer - they dont get the cold shoulder.

Taylor is a veteran guy - he knows the system and he knows what it takes. He will be ready to play.

I think what Taylor has done with Dancing with the Stars was great. He is a good guy and a good player - give it up Bill - you aren't his dad - he is old enough to make his own decisions.

Agreed. Bill needs to get on the train that left him behind long ago. His style may have worked in the 80's, and some in the 90's, but it doesn't, and hasn't worked in the NFL for a while. Not saying I completely disagree with his style (from a discipline standpoint), just saying it doesn't work in today's NFL.

Wonder what kind of LB Taylor would make in a Cowboy 3-4 defense??

Not with you on this one, breckja.  Taylor is not one of the best defensive players in football.  At one time, you could make the argument that he was one of the best pass rushers in football.  Those days are slipping away - one of the reasons I think Taylor had no problem with appearing on that cheesy show (life after football; show business).  Taylor has always been one-dimensional and selfish, and this whole affair just underscores that.

How can you say he's not one of the top defensive players in the league when he's only a season removed form actually winning the defensive player of the year award!

One dimensional?!?  That's pretty inaccurate.  The guy's not just a pass rusher.  How many screen passes has he intercepted in his career?  He's awesome against the run and the last couple of years he's been playing middle linebacker in some of the dime packages.  Last year against New England when he had a bum leg that affected his burst off the line they lined him up as a kind of defensive back for the start of the game and he was covering the slot receiver (usually Welker) and jamming him at the line.  New England didn't score when they opened the game like that.  He also played receiver.  The only indication that he might be slowing down is a nagging injury last year but when healthy he's still more athletic than almost everyone else on the planet.

It's not like he's smoking weed in India.  He's still training 6 hours a day, looks like he's in great shape and he brought some positive exposure to a team that needs some by finishing second to a professional ice dancer in a dancing contest.  There haven't been too many nice stories for a franchise coming off another year where they pick top 10 at the draft.

Let the guy finish his career in Miami!  If he's not physically ready for the season then discipline him.  Until then, he's earned the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, give him the benefit of the doubt, I agree. I wish they would just decide to keep him or trade him, both options make sense, but please, let's not go through this silent treatment nonsense. He's been a big part of the Dolphins and if he goes, then let it be on good terms, not like the messy situation with Daunte last year.

If Bill had watched DWS he would know Taylor has been conditioning all off season, and like was posted previously he's a veteran, and deserves more respect out of his coaches and staff

It has been far too long that these athletes have been handled with rubber gloves. I mean come on, if he's not there to play for his team and do the best he can for that team, then i wouldn't want him on my squad anyways, even if he is a top defensive player.

Parcells' teams have never focused on stars, granted he's made some, but his philosophy doesn't require them. One good player bringing down the rest of the team is far worse than not having that player.

Not to mention the fact that the younger players do look to the veterans for leadership and i personally wouldn't want my veterans leading my rookies in this way....
