The Reds are finally calling up Jay Bruce, but what will be the much anticipated corresponding roster move.  Could we all realize our wildest dreams and they cut Pattersuck?  Or has Hatteberg reached the end of the line, as rumored by some Reds insiders?  Either way, at least Bruce is up with the big club.

Now, if we can only do something with Belisle.  It's quite evident he is not major league material and he actually has options left.  Send him down to AAA and keep him there as insurance in case one of our starters goes down.

Also, as soon as somebody finds out the roster move, post it here.  I have WLW on all day at work and I'll be listening intently to hear the news.

So many choices-

Hatteberg, Valentin, Patterson, Belisle, in that order of probability I think, allthough there are several more players that deserve the axe...

They could send Janish down and give Dusty the perfect excuse to play Hairston everyday....They could drop a pitcher (Belisle) but that would mean Fogg (just as bad) would take his rotation spot.

We'll see....I bet it wont be Patterson, who gets my vote for the Reds mistake of the year (unless they sign Sammy Sosa to take Patterson's place,  then that would trump the mistake of the year).

Poor Norris Hopper....he's the one taking it on the chin in this deal...And Dusty isn't smart enough to figure out that  there is NO RULE that states that the CF must also lead off...or that middle infielders have to hit in the top 4 in the lineup....or that lefty pinch hitters hit righties better, and vice-versa, and walks only "clog up the bases" if you can't bunt them over and single them in....

Patterpuff needs to be working at King's Island next week.

I think they will demote Paterson even though he is making 3 million.  Dusty just has way to much faith in this guy and the only way to quit playing Paterson is by taking him off the 25 man roster and then Bruce will get the majority of the CF starts and Freel will go back to being super utility guy.

The appropriate moves:

1. Jay Bruce called up --> Corey Patterson designated for assignment

2. Homer Bailey/Matt Maloney called up --> Matt Belisle optioned to Louisville

3. Norris Hopper comes off the DL --> Scott Hatteberg traded/released

4. Jeff Keppinger comes off the DL --> Paul Janish (as much as I like him) optioned to Louisville

MLB.com has Jay Bruce on the active roster, but the active roster has 26 players.

I think Hatteberg will be released.  Dunn or Valentin can play 1B if anything happens to Votto and, for some reason, the Reds like Patterson.

I would rather see them get rid of Patterson or one of the catchers.  I really hate Patterson but I dislike having 3 catchers.

I can only hope Patterson is cut, but I think Hatteberg will get the boot.
