It's probably logistically difficult to do, but I think it would be a fantastic idea, and long overdue for the Columbus area (last US Open held in Columbus was in 1926 at Scioto CC). The course could easily be tailored to suit the difficulty of the US Open, as evidenced today. Throw in some characteristic inclement weather that the Memorial is famous for and watch out!
Jack Nicklaus would probably love the idea, although I don't know whether the Memorial Tournament committee would see it the same way. No idea what they'd do -- host the Memorial and then the US Open two or three weeks later on the same course? Cancel the Memorial for that year?
