In this case the NCAA should back off a bit and give Crean a chance. He already has cleaned house, and needs all the scholarships he can get to start righting the program.

As is they finish last or 11th in the league the next two years as he builds and molds the team the team

I agree that Indiana has done all they could do to avoid further sanctions.  They have almost no returning players (3 players, one of whom is a walk-on), no coaches, and have already self-imposed limits on recruiting and cut a scholarship.  Given the circumstances, it is likely IU will not be at full scholarship count in the first year, anyway.  As a result, Indiana is pretty close to starting from scratch.  Sad that it had to come to this.

That said, I don't think they will be in the cellar this year, though I believe a .500 record would be a very successful season.  Also, 11th and last are the same thing in the Big 10...

Here's hoping coach Crean can recruit the top in state players in the next couple of years.  Indiana always has good players but they don't stay in state.  IU still needs to get a new AD.  The moron that hired Sampson should be held accountable for this mess.  That is if he wasn't told to hire Sampson from someone above him.  In that case that person should also join Sampson as an assistant coach for Skiles.

There has been a lot of talk about whether the NCAA will ban the Hoosiers from the post season play for 2 years or so. From the way I see it go ahead and let them because the actual odds of this team making either the NCAA Tourney or the NIT is slim to none for about 2 years. I honestly dont think a ban is deserved because of the fact all of the people remaining on the coaching staff and the players who had been recruited from the phone calls arent even there anymore.

I think Crean is getting this program heading in the right direction and the IU faithful are supporting him 100%. It is truly unfortunate what this program has went through since the Sampson hiring and all the way back to Bob knights dismisal.

In about 2-3 years IU will be winning at the elite level program it is and will forever be.

I think IU should be banned. The excuse that all the parties involved in the scandall are gone is false. IU's AD and President are still there. Not to mention the fact that in the case against Kentucky and Eddie Sutton and then UK assistant Dwayne Casey for the infractions that led UK to probation under major sanctions, all the parties involved in that case were also gone but UK and the players they had left after transfers still had to bare the brunt of all that mess. Being a UK fan I can honestly say I was dissappointed by the whole mess, but I myself feel they got what they deserved. Brings me back to IU, where being an IU alum I think they too deserve whatever they are given, if anything. The only person hurt by this at all is Jordan Crawford in my opinion.

IU will not be in the cellar of the big 10.  i'd be willing to put my money on them finishing in top top 6-7.  I don't like IU, but its easy to see Crean has already taken some steps and they are ahead of where a lot of people thought they would be.
