hat was awful!!!! 25 minutes til the first fight....posses, dancers, strobe lights...please leave this to Spike TV and the UFC ...your going to ruin the only good sport to watch (minus football) on TV.....and these commentators come on "oh and here is a punch, and another punch and and and and now another punch sweet Jesus thank you for DVR and experienced fighters turned commentators on UFC....just awful....these guys were coming of 2 or 3 loses VS undefeated fighters Wow what a card....and a woman fight was the best show figures...and the early stoppages your turning it into a boxing match GOD DAMIT and you've seen what stat boxing is in!! and worst of all Robbie lawyer extended that fight waaaaaay to long he had him in the first 3 minutes... i'm sure on CBS direction
You're a complete barbarian to even watch that MMA crap. I don't and will never submit to the stupidity and ignorance of something that isn't even a sport. Oh, and try to learn some grammar and spelling when you write, even a spell check would have helped, especially if you're going to slam someone. Oh, and good luck in Hell for your blasphemy of God's name.
While I dont share your pure disdane for the CBS broadcast, I felt that it could have been better.
I really liked the explination that Frank Shamrock did before the fights started. Most of us who post on here of course would not need that kind of explination that covered rules, and common terms, but it was done well for newcommers.
I realy enjoyed the Lawler vs Smith fight...it was a premature stoppage, but it was entertaining. The Gina Carano fight was the best, I loved how she went for the "GoGo" as soon as they hit the ground...that was pretty impressive"
I did not care for several aspects of the fight...not all are CBS's fault though. First of all the entrances with the dancing girls...I found it kind of on the amature side of things. That is not a CBS thing though that is what EliteXC likes to do though. Also the commentating was not that good, and I really expected more. One good example of that was when Gina was going for the Gogoplata...no one on the panel even noticed it. They just kept talking about how she is trying to contol Katlin with her rubber guard. That was kind of embarrasing....Frank Shamrock finally said something about it inbetween rounds when they were watching highlights. Lastly I was not impressed with the crowd who attended the event, and maybe that is just because the live event was just as boring for the crowd as it was for us on TV....but I never sensed any real excitment from the crowd at all. There were even minimal cheers for Smith and Lawler after their fight....you can boo the descision I understand that but lets give some love to the two guys who went out there and battled.
Anyways those are some of my thoughts on the event
I love it when someone bashes a guy for spelling and bad grammar and then doesn't even know the definition of blasphemy. GOD DAMN IT is not blasphemy DAMN YOU GOD would be blasphemy. God damn it means god will you damn it. Check out a dictionary sometime denialiseasy. "goddamn" is widely used as a moderate profanity, which originated as such from the concept of punishment by God [citation needed] . Until around the mid-20th century, damn was a more offensive term than it is today, and was frequently represented as "D--n," "D---," or abbreviated to just "D."
As far as MMA being barbarian most sports are rugby, football, boxing, ect. there all barbaric. We are a barbaric society god damn it
jjtlogan hit this one on the head. The dancers and strobes are an Elite XC thing, not a CBS thing. Watch it on Showtime and you'll see the exact same type of production.
Yes, it was a bit cheesy. i was waiting for hulk hogan to come out and start talking MMA. However, CBS was the network provider, Elite xc is in charge of the rest of the jazz that made it a bit hard to watch. But i'm glad another network is trying to promote this sport. Lets face it, MMA needs as much publicity as it can get. Even if it comes with the price of strob lights and daners...
it was a weak showing all the way around. having kimbo slice didn't help for theatrics of the whole event. that guy is a joke! the second they square him up with an opponent that is not washed up and has at least fair/decent MMA skills, the guy doesn't stand a chance. the hack from England really didn't beat on kimbo too much, and kimbo damn near had to be escorted out of the octogon. either way, point is, you WONT be seeing Kimbo "I belong back in the streets of miami fist fighting lil beotches" Slice in any organized MMA. Take that to the bank!
