Come on Doyel, be honest with me - this was not your idea was it? Forget the fact that your analysis demolished the other article/mad libs - you have to know that this is a stupid topic, right?

It's a non-argument - it's a feedback feeder - there is no actual argument against Phil. And everyone knows it.

So I am going to assume that this was an assignment and I beg your bosses to assign better.

Seriously, frame the hype match-up in Offense v. Defense - it is an actual analysis. Triangle v. Big 3. Give your writers a chance to prove their merits as real basketball experts. Because just like Phil Jackson, when you demand nothing less than the best - the best will show up.

You'd think it's a non-argument, but this whole thing was actually Freeman's idea ... and look at the poll results. As of this moment, 52 percent -- more than 8,000 idiots people -- agree with him.

I don't know man - I think those polls have a little bit of the American Idol voting thing going on - 90 million votes cast on 1 million voters. Although it does remind me of my favorite book,

A confederacy of dunces.

No love on the offense v. defense thing?

"It's a non-argument - it's a feedback feeder - there is no actual argument against Phil. And everyone knows it."

Everyone except Mike Freeman and Red Auerbach.

This not about whether or not Phil is the best ever. But to say that he was just lucky is ludicrous.

Fine, Red Auerbach is the best coach ever. And Pat Riley is second. And Gregg Popovich is third. And Jack Ramsay is fourth. And etc etc etc, Phil Jackson is not in the top 5, or 10 or any number that would render him more than just some lucky shmuck?

Actually there is quite a few people who think Jackson is simply a coach who had tons of talent. I don't know how many times I've argued with people that he is a great coach (I think the best coach ever, but that's another debate). I totally agree with Doyel, a man doesn't win nine titles without being good. Heck the man could win another this year!

This isn't the first article in which Doyel and Freeman have had diametrically opposed columns.  Of course this is an assignment given to them by higher ups.  "we need to give two different viewpoints to stir up debate and create interest"  I'm sure that is the mantra at cbs.com.  Doyel and Freeman probably go out for drinks after work and laugh at all the people who took thier article so seriously.
