Hey tyellington, that is the worst attitude I have ever heard.  You don't go to respect the man, you go to respect the office.  The president of the United States should be the most highly respected, but some people fail to see it that way, they only respect the office when someone they agree with is holding the office.  I'm sorry, but that is not how it works.

Actually UNC and KU both have 5 national championships if you count championships awarded by the Helms Foundation. One thing that KU has over all the others are the 51 conference championships; the most in the country.

I think it's Bush, not tyellington, who doesn't respect the office of President.

Bush became president just so he could meet all the champions and get free jerseys.

OBoile-I know that UK and UNC have more wins.  But I am taking into consideration more than that.  UK's biggest influence came from Kansas-Rupp.  UNC's biggest influence came from Kansas-Smith.  You would be hard to name a program who is deeper rooted in college basketball than Kansas.  People I think forget that now days, tradition is lost on many.  It has become a "What have you done for me lately" sports culture in my eyes.  Which is sad.  Just look at the coaches getting fired.  If  you dont bring titles home, your job is on the line.

I've never understood how KU and UNC fans have anything to feud about.   Our two programs share a connection and I root for Carolina when it doesn't effect Kansas in any way.    Kansas Jayhawk Dean Smith builds a dynasty at North Carolina.   North Carolina Tarheel Larry Brown wins a national title at Kansas.  Tarheel Roy Williams returns Kansas to elite status.   Tarheel/Jayhawk Matt Doherty fails on the court but recruits a plethora of talent to Carolina.   Tarheel/Jayhawk Roy Williams wins the national title predominantly with Doherty's kids at Carolina.    And to top it off we like to meet in the final four from time to time.

As for the all time rankings.   We havethe richest tradition but I would rank the programs in terms of strength like this.  Keep in mind this is all time, not just what you have seen in your lifetime,.  For instance we all know UCLA has the titles but this is a body of work of over 100 years for some programs.

1.  North Carolina -- holding steady

2.  Kentucky -- falling

3. Kansas-- rising

4. UCLA  -- rising

5.  Duke --slipping

6. Indiana -- collapsing
