Dear fellow Falcon fans . My fantasy football league holds its annual draft on the last Saturday of July.(!) My "Football Prospectus", from the boys at Footballoutsiders.com, probably won't be available. My strategy , if one can call it such, is to take as many players as I can from my favorite teams: Falcons; Lions; Patriots; Chargers. The magazines devoted to the subject are repetitive and somewhat shallow. I am hopeing that the cumulative weight of your responses will crush the biases that I harbor, so, concentrating primarily on Atlanta, which players would you deem worthy of a "top five" selection. If the mood strikes one may also rank the potential picks from the other three franchises, but I am mostly interested in the Falcons. Thanx. Again, my choices are tainted by prejudice and irrational opinion so I will not unravel my thread with this madness. Again, I thank you.

Yeah the Falcons are "loaded" with prospects with the ability to excel, but that is all they are... prospects. If you really wanted to go out on a limb I would take Michael Turner in a second or third round choice, Matt Ryan as a third QB choice for later down the road because you never know... But if you really wanted to get ballsy, you could take our DST because even though we are not graded that high, we could surprise a lot of people this year, mainly on defense. Everybody else it too much of a risk.

Don't take our D! Roddy was impressive last year and Chris should find him, but Mularkey's offense might put receivers in multiple coverage with less opportunities. Roddy White, Michael Turner, Chris Redmon, Jerious Norwood in that order, keep your eye on which TE emerges as the receiver, could be effective in this offense. Almost forgot, maybe the best pick, Jason Elam.

For IDP leagues take Michael Boley, or Keith Brooking. Last season I had Michael Boley, and Patrick Willis and they both combined won my league for me more or less. Can't miss on those sure fire tackles exspecially when you know that the defensive players you have will be on the field 3/4 of the time because the offense sucks and can't generate points.

It will be the D that can't get off the field.

Thank you so much so far young friends of "FalconsaurusRex". Your collective replys thus far are shapeing up as helpful. Origionally I would have been hesitant to consider the defense, but a Mularkey ball contro offense should assist the unknown eleven. Jason Elam will probably be the first kicker selected as the league is comprised of 10 of 11 school teachers and coaches from the Covington area.......and me from the impoverished mountains of southwest Virginia. I believe over time the concensus will favor Turner and White but the selection of Norwood somewher in the later single digit rounds is not out of the question. I don't think that I am ready to accept the upsetting prospect of a Matt Ryan helmed "O" and can only hope that dirtybyrd and I are wrong about him...........as , it would seem, are a vast majority of so-called experts who hawk their predictive notions across the nation. I noticed that no one wished to go out on the proverbial limb and reccommend a Lion. "FalconsaurusRex" is the name of my yet to be named team and it would be my I.D. here but I don't know how to do that. P. Manning or D. Brees will ......oooops........"shhhhhhhh" the enemy lurks.
