I totally agree Kobemvp,
I agree with everything you just said except the overratted part. He is a great player and has the athleticism like MJ but that is about it. He doesn't have the mature mind and patience to help his teamates play better. Kobe needs to have really good players manufacture and brought over so he can accomplish his "predetermined legacy aspirations". (Yeah, he's happy now because they have won with Gasol being brought over, once he starts to lose, the real Kobe will stand up, trust me it's only about him and his legacy.) He wishes he could be in the class of MJ, Bird, Magic, Shaq, Russell Etc.. Now if he does win 3 or 4 more Rings as the "batman" of his team, then Lakers fans can start to say he is like MJ and the "great" players we all know of.
Like you said, he was shaq's caddy (I call him Robin) and until he gets rings without shaq and is the "BATMAN" of this team while winning a ring, he is not even close to MJ status as far as Rings go. (ok the 3 rings he has equal about 1, in being the "Batman" of his team, with all that help he gave shaq) Or, how great he was at winning with who he had and not whinning to get better players. The Lakers were a .500 team with out Gasol or Bynum, bottom line.
So you say, "well if Pippen wasn't with MJ then they would have been a .500 team also" that may be true, but MJ didn't get manufactured players either. He played with them until they became better without any "calling out" management or telling them they sucked! That is the difference. MJ and the "great" players like Bird and Magic did it the right way. They knew how to do that and that is part of what "great" players do and then they win Rings as the "Batman" (leader) of their teams, not the "little robin" or second fiddle to great players like he was to Shaq. Pippen was a caddy also, he has 6 rings right? Why isn't he as great as MJ? LOL! Now you get it.....
