I know Penn St. likes to think of themselves as Linebacker U. but the Bucks take a back seat to no one when it comes to great bruisers.  Again, who do you think is the best of the best.

I'd say Miami has the most quality defense players in the nfl.

I think the Bucekeyes are up there with some of the best.  However, I also think if you are truly one of the Bad MF's of anything in any sport you get a trophy named after you...

Heisman, Walter Camp, Unitis(SP) , Thorpe, Butkus, Rimington, Lott, T. Hendricks, Bilitnekoff, R. Guy etc. Unfortunately not many Buckeyes get that distinction...Heck not many have have won the actual best LB in the NCAA award even though it most times is won before the season starts. Spielman deserved it at least once and he was beat out by Brian "rainbow buzz cut" "Bo ran me over" Buzzworth twice!

I could see an Orlando Pace pancake award going to the best Lineman who destroys his opponenets. A known Fact: He did invent the term "The Pancake block" during his tenure at OSU ask Corso, Mushberger and even Buckeye hater Mark May...

As far as the best def players overall USC has put out some studs as well as Miami. As for PSU there is a lot of hype but the last few years not much....More bust than studs. Courtney Brown with the Browns comes immediately to mind. Yeah Arrington was good but he also is a basket case nobody seems to want.   I'm sure I'm not giving them enough props if I studied every NFL blog to see each and every LB in the NFl there probably is more. (I know Puzzlowski (SP)  got injured pretty bad his rookie season)

As for the Buckeyes we have: Vrabel, Hawk and Carpenter in the NFl right now with Wilhelm also doing well as a true starter. Schelegel is still around but not too much LB production from him. I can think of two dominant names for USC and Miami right off the bat: J. Seua & R. Lewis which seems to be the current standard of LB's in the NFL.

Why is it in these threads I see no mention of Andy Katzenmoyer?

Man was he awesome with the Pats.

Katzenmoyer's career was hampered by a little thing called a broken neck....

Of course he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed either.
