dusty "the rally killer" baker effectively killed the Reds 8th inning chances to tie or take the lead by giving griffey 3-0 greenlight with 1st and 3rd and 1 out. griffey gets jammed on 3-0 and grounds into double play. maybe 10-15 years ago I can see it. but, griffey is not the hitter he once was. to be able to sit on 3-0 pitch then get jammed, break your bat, and ground weakly to the 2nd baseman should make it obvious his skills are diminished by time and injuries. he wouldn't have missed that pitch in his prime. do what is right to win ballgames for the team. don't try to make a hero out of someone just because of who he is. I am not impressed with dusty as a manager and never have been.. he also blew it when he left cordero on the bench after warming him up anyway. give your team the best chance to win the game in their last at bat in a tie ballgame. lou piniella has the Cubs playing great baseball when dusty couldn't during his tenure with the pitching staff he had. oh yeah, the last time the reds won the world series I think lou was the manager then. nice job letting him go reds administration. I hope the reds can take the next step to championship baseball, but I don't know if dusty is the man to light the fire the reds are lacking. the talent is there now and the winning attitude is all that is lacking.
