Just because one writer says that, doesn't mean squat. All a writer does is get paid for opinions and ideas. We don't. Big deal. Writers are usually morons anyways. Doesn't matter. Pens will sign everyone but Malone. PEACE!
Thats funny over rated....so are you saying that just because that one guys blog posts about the rumors and the pens signings doesnt mean squat as well? You know the one that you cited about the hossa signings and malkin signings?
Why do you try to back your talk up with an article and then when i back mine up you shoot it down saying its just an opinion and it means squat? Typical homer...
Penguins can't sign everyone but Malone...funny how you didnt make mention about any of my numbers i threw out there and because you know I am right....
Penguins are in trouble and you wont admit it....last season was your year...now all the penguins will do is to continue to break your heart for the next several years....
I think the pens have next year to win the cup before things really go down hill....
OVERRATED just got owned again. HaHa. Thats what you get for being a complete disgrace on these boards. I harbor no ill will towards the rest of the Pens fans, and I wish you the best, but OVERRATED, while passionate, has some serious credibilty issues. Perhaps if he wasn't always such a pr^ck, non-Penguin fans would be a bit more tolerant of his lop-sided views. Until then, he is getting what he deserves.
This is a band aid and a prayer for Pittsburgh. They have to be hoping to get Fleury signed for below market value or somehow win arbitration with the way he played this year. With all the rumors flying about what players are leaving from day to day trying to convince Marc to put the team first is going to be a hard sell. If the contract winds up in the hands of an arbitrator and the Pens lose to the amount of say 6.5 - 7 million it will only make the cap nightmare that much worse.
What the Pens need to do is decide who they want for their core, dump the big $ guys they can't afford, and try to build a mix of veterans and young guys to compliment Crosby and whoever else is there.
I always thought arbitration was basically a team telling a player we dont want to pay you what you want so we will let someone else decide what your worth.
To me if I was sent to arbitration i would have a sour taste in my mouth towards the team that sent me there. If he goes to arbitration and is awarded a contract it will probably be a one year deal, then he becomes an unrestricted free agent and well fleury on the market will prob get a pretty penny and probably will think twice before signing back with a team that originally didn't want to give him the money in the first place...
If I was a Pens fan, I would hope Hossa turns down his contract offer. Take the 7 million and put it towards signing other players and even giving fleury like 5 of the 7 and save yourself the 2 mill.
Pens are in trouble and if other teams are smart enough they will see it as well and the Penguins will not be able make any trades because teams will know that they cant afford to keep the guy so they will have to cut him.
Arbitration comes into play *usually* when a player and the team cannot agree to terms on a contract. Both sides make a final offer, and the arbitrator, a presumably neutral third party, looks over the two offers and the justifications by both sides and makes a decision of one of the two proposed contracts. There is no middle ground, the arbitrator has to pick one or the other and both sides are bound to honor the contract.
This is exactly why this is so risky for the Penguins. Given the solid play of Fleury he can make a strong case for a big payday, and if Pittsburgh is stuck with a large contract after arbitration that will make their already grim cap woes that much worse.
True, but they could also look at the fact that hes prone to injury and didnt even play a full season...so he was fresh for the playoffs and did not have much to do during the year....could go either way...
