I am not a Laker hater.  But, you need to take a realistic look at your team and its serious salary cap issues.

Andrew Bynum is a 21 year old future franchise player most likely....yes...

But he plays center.  Pao Gasol can move to PF.  But, Lamar Odom is not a good fit at SF.

Both Lamar & Bynum are free agents in 2009.

It is very very naive to think that either one will be content to be a 4th option IN A CONTRACT YEAR.

If the Lakers want to make Bynum the future, he has to be the 2nd or 3rd option at worst.

I actually see the laker trading away lamar odom this summer for some flexibility.  It clearly is the right move to make.

...............

Barring injuries this team could push 70+ wins certainly 60+ is likely and that should be good enough to win the West by about 7 to 8 games at least same as Boston beating out Detroit this year.

70 games?  In the Western Conference?  Good luck!!  The Lakers should be good next year, but the Western Conference is far too competitive for the Lakers to win 70 games!  The Celtics dominated the much less deep East and only won 66.

I think Kevin should've won MVP, not Pierce. I don't mean Kevin Garnett. I mean Kevin McHale. Let's face it as absurd as the Gasol for kwame trade was, the Garnett trade was 10 times more absurd. Garnett is top 5 guy in the league and was given to Boston by Mchale for crap. In fact, mchale turned down Odom and Bynum instead took the garbage he got from Boston.

Of course your not a Laker hater I know that. You have been here forever Horns and I respect your opinion and you do make a good point that I didn't think of. I would actually be ok if they did trade Odom because he showed this post season that he is very inconsistent and that won't change. I think he becomes the Super Sub kind of like Manu has been for the Spurs.

And actually Lamar is a pretty good guy that has always been a team player I won't doubt him there I think he would be happy in a 6th man role where he could possibly push for 6th man of the year and help him in a contract year. Don't be surprissed Odom wants a ring I know that for sure there was talks he might retire earlier this year once his contract is up so how do you even know he might still be thinking retirement after this season if he gets a ring. And if you want to win a ring your best chance is with LA then to be traded somewhere.

They should very well win 60-62 though if they can stay healthy and provided Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Bryant, & Co. can gel.
