It became extremly obvious this series that Kobe Bryant was not the MVP of the league. After watching tonights crushing blow to the Lakers, it became obvious Kobe had no answer. One of the most overrated players of our generation, Kobe is not the "best" player in the NBA.

Let me put it like this. If Lebron and Kobe were on the same team, Kobe would be option # 2. When Kobe and his team had their backs against the wall, Kobe disappeared in the critical 2nd half of game 6 of the NBA finals, while Boston took a 4 point lead and turned it into a 23 point lead.

Total letdown. LeBron James pulled his town to victory against the Celtics when facing elimnation in game 6, and more importantly, in game 7, at Boston, Lebron put up 40+ and carrying his teammates to what would be one of the greatest game 7's in the NBA. Unfortunately Lebron came across Paul Pierce who was able to match him basket for basket. A career game for Pierce as he was able to hold of King Lebron.

I'm sorry, but Kobe's play tonight, reminded me that he is not the best player in the NBA. In fact, as far as "team" play goes, If I was starting a new NBA team, and I had every NBA player to choose from, Kobe is not in my top 5.

Peace!

You try being asked to carry your team all the way to the Finals, with torn ligaments in your finger, no true center on your team, and then don't get any help once you actually get there.

Kobe is the best player on his team, in this league, in this earth. It's just that Gasol and Odom crumbled once they got to the Finals. Garnett and Allen wanted it much more because they've been stuck in bad teams for such a long time, and they truly deserved it. Pierce, Garnett and Allen vs. Kobe? Kobe is the best player in the league, but even the best can't go against 3 very, very good players without help from his own teammates and win.

Congratulations to the Celtics. They earned it. But don't go ripping Bryant saying he didn't earn his MVP award. He earned every bit of it.

Kobe Bryant earned his MVP.

He was the best player in the regular season.

However there is some merit to the LeBron James argument of being overlooked.

Lebron seems to get more out of less than Kobe.

He took a clearly inferior Cleveland team to game 7 versus this same Boston team.

I am not sure the players from the horrible Kobe years of 2005-2007 were that much worse than the cast of scrubs Lebron plays alongside.

What planet are you on. It took the whole Celtic team to stop Kobe. The Celtics won as a team. The Lakers played and lost as a team. This is a team sport and not golf. You are probably the type of person that would not give Bill Gates credit. Kobe played the season and this series as a MVP. This was a great Boston win. They are the better team and the Lakers need a overhaul. I can't wait to next season. ROLLING.

Kobe had the numbers to be MVP this year.

But if Kevin Garnett had averaged 24 ppg 11 reb 3.5 asts 2 blks etc. this season he would have been your NBA MVP for this season.

He got punished by the system because he sacrificed his numbers for the good of the team. Just like Paul Pierce did. Ray Allen too.

Kobe is a great player. Good argument about LeBron scoring 40 in Game 7 though. Much better than what Kobe did. You do have to admit the C's are playing much better as a whole since the Cleveland series. So there is a flaw in that logic.

Kobe-great player. Celtics-great team that plays outstanding defense.

I'll take the great team that plays D every time.

Jordan vs. Kobe debate - Jordan never lost in the Finals. Kobe has twice.
