I got this idea from another thread.  If Mike Hampton comes back strong (1% chance of that IMO) and Tom Glavine is healthy this would be my 5 man rotation:

#1- Tim Hudson (R)

#2- Hampton (L)

#3- Jair Jurrjens (R)

#4- Glavine (L)

#5- Jorge Campillo (R)

Would you have Campillo in the rotation, or Jo-Jo Reyes?  What would your 5 look like?

I'd have Jo-Jo Reyes as my long reliever/emergency starter.  Lord knows with Mike Hampton (IF he comes back) and Tom Glavine in our lineup, we'll need a good emergency starter!

Why not put Hampton in the pen as a set up man? Why screw with this rotation for a guy who is more fragile than anybody out in the starting rotation.

I don't think he's any more valuable at this point that anybody else. Put him in the the pen and only use him every other day if necessary. If we need an emergency start he's there but at this point he's no better than a 4-5 starter based on reliability.

We have the makings of a good rotation-- why mess it up for him?

so you think glavine should start b/c of his name and the 7 or 8 million we are paying him.

hopefully glavine will remains on dl and we go to a six man rotation when hampton comes back.

Bobby would never put Glavine in the pen.

No-- based on the fact that he has actually pitched in the last 2 years in a major league game.
