As I read the dispicable way the Mets fired head coach Willie Randolph in the middle of the night by email, I thought to myself, wonder what Johan thinks?  He left the Twins to win a championship.  I see the Twins winning one long before the Mets.  What a great team you went to Johan.  May you wallow in your own greed.  You could have had $20M from the twins(which is unheard of).  Enjoy that extra 2.5M as your new team spirals into the celler.  Wonder if he will be asking for a trade after this year already?  LMAO!  Just think Johan, you could be in 1st place with the Twins(which I believe we would with Santana) instead your in an orginization that doesn't even have the gull to fire the head coach face to face.  They have to wait until he is 2000+ miles away and do it by email.  Enjoy Johan you got what you wanted, a team that buys old people and hopes they can still be productive.  Then when things go bad, they fire the scapegoat.

Um, he didn't just get $2.5 million  year more for leaving, he also got an extra 2-3 years (depending on options) and what will probably work out to be an extra $50 million than he'd of made from the contract the Twins offered.

If you want to call him greedy for that, that's fine, I think its understandable. But don't make it out to be like he ran out of town for a couple extra million, it was far more than that.

Base deal Twins offered was 4 Years/ $80Million.  He didn't leave over the money anyways.  He left because with Minnesota not resigning Torii Hunter, he thought the Twins would suck.  He wanted a championship and basically said the Twins will not get one.  Yes our record is pretty much the same and we are the team in the weaker division.  We are in much better shape to win the division at this point.  But with Santana Twins would be in first.  Torii left because Twins wanted him to take a paycut, Santana left because he gave up on the Twins.  Don't get the facts mixed up.

Greed was the wrong word.

How did I get the facts mixed up? You said in his greed he left for an extra $2.5/year. I just corrected and said the difference in the deals was about $50 million (4 years $80 million vs. 6 years $137 million, plus an 7th option year that would bump it up to about $150 million).

As far as the stuff about him giving up on the team, I don't know anything about that. I was going off of what you said in your original post about the differences in the deals he was offered by both teams. I understand it sucks when a guy leaves a team he came up with for any reason, and especially when its for money. But I do think there's a difference when a guy leaves for a marginal difference in per year salary, or just one extra year, vs. when a guy leaves for potentially 3 extra years and an extra $57 million, possibly $70 million depending on options. That's all.

Actually they offered Torii $15 million a year which would not be a pay cut. It was the amount of years of the contract that was the disagreement.
