He had a great start to the season and was helping the Twins win ballgames, but he has been the worst pitcher in baseball for a while now. He's not even eating innings anymore, which is the main reason he was signed. Boof was demoted to the bullpen but he couldn't do any worse than Hernandez if he went back into the rotation. Look at opponent batting averages between the two. Plus there's Liriano and Duensing in Rochester, they might struggle at times but they'd give the Twins a chance to win much more often than Hernandez. If the Twins are trying to win they should get rid of him, if they are trying to develop young players they should get rid of him.

Livan really wasn't even good to start with.  He was getting a ton of run support in the wins he got.  Honestly I can only remember 2 quality starts that he didn't get a ton of run support.  And if I remember right, those both were no decisions.

Actually 7 of his first 10 starts were quality starts and the Twins were 8-2 in those games.

Boy does this thread look uniformed about 10 days later....

Livan Hernandez just won two games, pitched quality starts in both, the Twins are on a roll (thanks to Livan).

Sure he gives up a lot of hits, does not dominate, has a high ERA.... but he is 8-4 for a 40-36 team!

That means the rest of the staff is .500

I do not love him, he reminds me of Todd Jones of the Tigers, or Joe Borowski of the Indians. He gets hit, throws soft, scares his fans.

But Hernandez eats innings for a team that needs to rest a weary mid-relief. If anyone has to leave the rotation right now it is probably Glen Perkins, who has pitched well. He would make a nice long relief if Fransisco Liriano were to come back.
