Brady is overrated simply because he gets way too much credit for the Patriots success early in his career. He did what they needed him to do, but the reason they won the first two Super Bowls was because of an amazing defense more than anything.
Starting with the 2004 season though the defense has slowed down a little and Brady has stepped up his game to pick up the slack. As of now Brady is clearly one of the top 2 QBs in the league (not getting into a Payton vs Brady argument, they're both great).
Remember, overrated is not the same thing as bad. Brady will surely go down as one of the all time greats and he deserves it. But for the first few years of his career he was an average to above average QB with probably the best defense in the NFL.
Not that this should detract from him, after all how many QBs can even be considered average in their first few years? Not many. He just wasn't as good then as he gets made out to be.

In his first season taking over as a starter, the Patriots defenseq was definitely a large part of the reason the Pats made it to the Superbowl. However, Brady orchestrated a perfect two-minute drill, sans time-outs, and put the Patriots in a position to win the game, which they did. How is that overrated? A first year starter, making the right plays at the right time, with a considerable amount of aplomb, being a major contributer to a Lombardy Trophy.

Case and point. Please take the blinders off. Its the team that is responsible for the Wins.Tom has had his moments like every QB, but he cant do it alone. Give him 8-10 more years I am sure you Pat fans will have more then one leg to stand on when you defend Brady. I am sure of it. Defence, Defence, Offence. And the snow strom game was a Brady highlight for sure.

Tom has had his moments like every QB, but he cant do it alone.
I never said, nor do I believe, that Brady did it alone. The point that I'm trying to make is that the poise that Tom showed, in his first year as a stater, belies your ascertation that he was overrated in his early years. I well remember all the talking heads saying, "Let's wait and see what Brady can do down the road." He has, along with a great team and coaching staff, made the playoffs every year but one, and the year they didn't make it, thay had the same record as the Jets, who did make it, but lost out due to a tie-breaker.
All that I am trying to say is, Tom Brady is not now, nor ever has been overrated.

Oh look! Another foolish, idiotic thread about the Patriots. It's called jealousy. Ha ha. How many Super Bowls has your team won this decade? I know of a team that has 3 rings so far this decade and any semi-intelligent sports fan knows that the most important position in all of sports is the quarterback. You all wish you had a QB as great as Brady, except for you Colts fans. You all know what it's like to have a great QB.

Brady is a great QB but the Pats have been to what 4 of the BIG Game in 40 years and won 3. and those were all in the last ten years. This does not a Dynasty make. There are maybe three DYNASTIES in NFL history.
Dallas Cowboys * SB trips 5 wins
49 ER'S 5 SB wins
Steelers 5 wins
Bills 4 trips in a row (I know they did not win but come 4 in a row)
Pats 5 trips 3 wins so they are on the cut off line of Dynasty.

Im jealous of how you Patriots win 3 Super Bowls, the NFL finds out you cheated and they don't strip you of your title. You know whats funny, no matter how good the Patriots dynasty is or will be, they will always be remembered as cheaters and thats something that you can't defend.
