You kind of feel bad for the guy, but he was the one to go. He had to go. I think this team really would have been fine except for the expectations that were put on this club before the season even started. That's an awful lot of pressure for a "new" manager and a club that fell on it's face in a real race that we shouldn't have been running in last year. It's very easy to start falling down and eventually you stop getting up. Was the solution bringing up young guys (again with the highest expectations) and expect them to be the guy that pulls us out of the mire? Not the best plan, they're under more pressure than anyone else on the grass. That and getting rid of the one person that this ball club has really needed this season. I hate to say this, but Jose Guillen was that guy. He was a spark plug and really gave this team a some much needed attitude. A guy who WOULD call people out, and then (at least last year) perform on his own. Talk about F-ing vanilla. There is no flavor, no spark, and seemingly no will on the Seattle Mariners bench right now. Bland is the new flavor in the Northwest, and John McLaren and Bill Bavasi could open up a god damned Baskin and Robbins, but with just one choice, it looks like vanilla but tastes like S***.
Go Mariners.
