Here are some free agents I would like to Devils to maybe look into and actually sign some of them.<o:p> </o:p>

Centers- S.Avery, S.Fedorov, B.Morrison, M.Sundin, D.Langkow, M.York and J.Vasicek.<o:p> </o:p>

Wingers- L.Nagy, M.Naslund, R.Malone, K.Huselius, R.Fedotenko, M.Hossa. P.Demitra, M.Satan, D.Vyborny, M.Vrbata, C.Stillman and M.Ryder<o:p> </o:p>

Defenseman- B.Stuart, B.Campbell, W.Redden, B.Orpik, J.Vandermeer, B.Berard, S.McCarthy, M.Rozsival and D.Kalinin<o:p> </o:p>

It depends where they go here but they probably will only spend big money on one of these positions then they’ll go cheaper in the other areas. If they go big on defense and sign a Redden or Campbell then I believe they’ll go a cheaper route with a center (like a York or Vasicek) and winger (like a Vrbata or Fedotenko). If they spend big money on a winger or center (like a Sundin, Hossa, Naslund or Demitra) then they probably go a cheaper route with defense (Rozsival, Kalinin or Berard). Personally I would like them to get three to four solid players maybe a Morrison, Huselius and Stuart (if Stuart wants to stay on the west coast then sign Orpik). Then wait to see if others like a Berard, York, Vasicek or Kalinin (maybe even a older player like Fedorov) fall to them (like Comrie did last year to the Islanders) when the bidding wars stop. I just hope Lou has a plan, a good plan this year!<o:p> </o:p>

We better make a splash in free agency on July 1st or I'll be extremely pissed with Lou. We need a top defenseman and top six forward.

Gambi....I am not sure what Free Agents will be asking (which is the million dollar question,no pun intended)...which would be the deciding factor in whom The Devils may be eligible to sign.I think now that the dust has settled we all cant deny and realize upgrades are needed to spark this teams offense both on Forward and on the Point on the Power Play.I think there are quite a few effective players out there whom might not cost an arm and a leg.Players like Campbell that want to eat up 7 million a year(I heard thats what he is seeking) arent the answer.I would rather sign to FA's for 2.5-3.0 a year.I think thats best served and with the way the NHL is that might help alot.Then again its all circumstance.It all will be by how many sign and who signs and for what amount thereby setting the market.Once that first surge happens and its set whomever is left(GM's still bidding) will be ready or drop out.Hopefully the Devils cash in if they find what they need before the price gets to high.Though the big question is how motivated is Lou in the market????? If he is we know he is more then capable.....if he becomes complacent like at last years deadline Devil fans could be in for one looooong season.

I think that since there are too many teams that are going to make offers to Campbell and Hossa that we should go for some of the other FA's. It would be awful if we spend all our time targeting those two and having some other potential signees slip through our fingers. I really don't think we have a shot at Sundin, I think he wants to stay in Canada. Also, I think we can cross Vrbata and Huselius off the list. The Coyotes really want Vrbata back and Huselius probably won't want to come this far away. Some names that I really like off your list Gambi, are Nagy, Satan and Redden. Don't forget about Jason Smith though, I think he will be a Devil next year, and also Brian Rolston is an UFA.
And one more thought. What do you guys think about Patrick Marleau? Supposedly he is available for trade. What do you think it will take to get him here?

I think it will take a deal that includes either Elias or Gionta to make that move by trade. We should go after Jason Smith from Philly (we drafted him by the way), sign Campbell and bring back Rolston. The lines should look something like this...
Elias, Rolston, Gionta
Parise, Langenbrunner, Zajac
Madden, Smith, Pando
Zubrus, Brylin, Clarkson
Campbell, White
Oduya, Martin
Mottau, Brookbank

How about this for next year:
Elias, Rolston, Parise

This would put us very close to the projected cap of somewhere around $56 mil, but this is without Vishnevski on the roster or Brylin. VV is under contract, but hopefully we could trade him for a prospect or a draft pick since we don't need more D-men. And Brylin has a team and a player option for next year, which hopefully the Devils don't pick up and Brylin opts for Free Agency.

Personally I say we need a hardnoser. Maybe bring a Brooks Orpik or Vandermeer, or hell even Darcy Tucker. We need some grit and toughness on this team, and we don't have it right now. Let some of the old useless talent walk and start making this team younger cause if we stay with the core we have, when Brodeur walks so will the rest of the team. Half our team could be gone in a couple years. Lets get some younger but proven talent that hopefully wont suck o | |
